I debated between this and the Hunger Games (I know, very similar haha), and I chose the Hunger Games. I don't think I'm the romance or soft porn type. I was seriously addicted to those in high school, but don't see myself liking those anymore.

But it's tempting because it's so wildly popular! I might just watch the movie instead haha!

Oh I didn't want to read the Hunger Games either but glad I caved in. It's amazingly good so far!

Maybe this should be our May book club book? I hadn't heard about it until I saw it posted in the MF...I think it sounds like a fun read!

I think I'll get it. I've heard enough about it that even I end up not liking it, at least it satisfies my curiosity.

Am I the only one that's really bugged by her "HOLY _____" in every other paragraph, and her Subconsciousness? I hope her subconsciousness will just go away. It's not subconsciousness if she knows what her subconsciousnesss thinks.Ugh...

She seriously sounds like a retard lol!

It's entertaining, but I highly doubt I'll tolerate past the first book. If I hear HOLY COW one more time my head is going to explode.

Oh I hate her subconcious and her inner goddess! I also hate how self-concious she is. I was reading up on the controversies surrounding the book last night and a few brought up the similarities with Twilight. I never thought it before but I do now. I'm more than half way through the first book and honestly I don't think I'll read the others. It's a quick read and she does keep me turning the pages but after 4 chapters straight of them f*&!'ing for the 6th time in a row...I'm bored.

Though I may still read the 2nd and 3rd because it is a quick read afterall and I'm way behind on my 50 book challenge. Hmmmm.

I really like them! I just finished the 2nd one a few days ago. I think that her inner goddess gets old really quickly, as does Ana constantly thinking she isn't enough.

I honestly expected it to be much, much more graphic/loaded with sex than it is, after all of the controversy around the books.

I'll agree that the subconscious is VERY annoying especially considering it’s generally used in the wrong context lol there are so many other words that could have been substituted to stop being so repetitive lol

I LOVED the books but agree that they re pure fluff. There are authors who are "writers" and want to win a Pulitzer and authors who write stuff that hit a MASS market and they make tons of money...it’s all about what you want and what the public wants to be reading.  The twilight books are a prefect example of that,. Not well written AT ALL but still managed to pull in millions of loyal readers, fans and followers (myself included lol).

I had heard that they were so fabulous and funny...but frankly, I would've been just fine without having ever turned the first page. I want to slap all the characters. Ironic, isn't it? Lol. I agree totally that it reads like a highly adult version of Twilight. I won't be wading through the next two books, that's for sure.

I think these books have been a gulity pleasure of mine. I thought the writing itself was atrocious, but I got past that and simply enjoyed it for what it is...an easy read.

They're the sort of book you should read on vacation IMO, nothing that makes you concentrate and just a bit of fun.
