6 months to go...No ceremony location

Hello all,

I am currently panicking as I do not have a ceremony location picked out and there is only 6 months left until our big day. Our budget is very small and I have had to sacrafice alot of my dreams for my wedding day already. However, I feel as though I cannot compromise a beautiful ceremony. Getting married outdoors is out of the question as April in Michigan is unpredictable. Any ideas for how to make an ordinary cermony space look eligant and sophisticated on a very tight budget? (The more DIY ideas the better). I would love to see pics. Thanks :)

welcome to project wedding!! how "ordinary" of a space do you think your going to rent? knowing the location type (fire house hall, banquet hall, church hall, etc) would be a great help in decoration tips!

HI Welcome to PW! Glad to see you posting and congratultions on your upcoming wedding! First...I think Tressy one of the hostesses is in Michigan and can maybe give you some location suggestions!

I had a tight budget as well but pulled off a beautiful day so it can be done. Tell us what ideas you have or what you are wanting and we can probably tell you how to DIY it! Have you found an alt location yet? Check out bios as well, there are alot of DIY ideas on PW. Many of us were DIY queens for a year planning our own weddings!

If there were things you decided you cant have due to budget tell us what those are too because if its an item I bet we can tell you how to DIY it! I DIYed almost ALL of my wedding!

Hello have you tried the local library, also there is a place called Decarlos on 10 mile and Mound just before I696. There is another place that is near 9 mile and Mound that advertise wedding for $21.95. When I take my son to work I will get the number for you. Both have ceremony and reception space.

Hello dear and Welcome to Project Wedding! What part of Michigan do you live in? I am from Michigan as well. What is your budget for ceremony venue? Do you have a venue for your reception? I would be more than happy to help you with your venture!

Welcome to PW!! You came to the right place for DIY :)

Do not panic, you can make any space look fabulous if you are willing to put the work in!

I suggest a church hall, sometimes they rent rooms for only a donation. A Community center is another option. I really like the library idea, that could be really cute! Or is there any other kind of attraction with a large space...we have a good size aquarium/museum here that does weddings, but because it's not a 'traditional' hall, it's pretty cheap.

I would figure out what your budget it first, and then start dialing! Call everywhere you can think of and make a big list of spaces in your price range. Once you have that narrowed down, you'll want to visit each and see which you like, and which you think you can decorate the best.

Good luck, and don't be afraid to come to us for help!
