7 hour gap

I'm going to a friend's wedding and there's a 7 hour gap. Yes, I said SEVEN hour gap. The ceremony ends at 11am and the reception is at 6pm. Any suggestions on what to do in the meantime?

Wow, that is a huge gap in between. Do you live close enough to go home for a few hours? DH and I once went to a wedding and they had a 5 to 6 hour gap too, but luckily we lived close enough so we went home to nap! Another time, we stopped by the mall for a few hours and went shopping.

Good luck!

Holy crap that's really long. What are they thinking? If you're having a reception that ends at 11am, then you should have a lunch reception.

Wow they seem pretty crazy. Where is the wedding? We may be able to suggest fum things to do in the area. I like the idea of movies. If it were me I would nap in my car if I had no other option :)

It would have been nice if they had provided you with a list of things to do possibly.

Both the ceremony and the reception is in the south bay. I think there's a few movie theatres in the area.

We have a big gap between our ceremony and reception too (about 9 hours, sunrise/susnset).. but we're only having our immediate family at the wedding so we'll probably just all head back to the house and have some cake, then relax for the afternoon before heading to the reception.

Wouldn't do this if I were inviting other people though, it seems a bit inconsiderate

Kathy: I think immediate family is perfectly fine. You can hang out together and relax and have a ton of fun! :)

Having all 150+ wedding guests go through the huge gap is different though.

I second that. Immediate family should be cool, but leaving ALL guests with that much down time would be really inconsiderate. I already don't enjoy traveling from one venue to another for weddings, unless it is really close and you don't have to pay for double parking.

Wow. that is crazy. I personally hate gaps in weddings. I dont think many guests appreciate that. Weddings are best when there is a nice flow from one event to another. But thats just my opinion. I guess I would just go back home and watch tv and relax or go shopping. :)

I agree, immediate family will put up with the long gap. I wonder how many people will not show up for the ceremony and just come for the reception.

Ohh...yeah...as long as you can shop...then I am okay with a GAP....but I have a feeling that most guests will then either leave early from the reception or show up really late...

If you're in San Jose you can hit Santana Row for some shopping and lunch.
