Thought I would pop in and say Hello!
I'm Lori, Community Manager for Project Wedding. I live and work in the greater Los Angeles area. Even though I have never been married or engaged, I LOVE all things wedding and have worked in the wedding business for nearly a decade and know a fair amount about them, so please do ask and I'll do my best to get you an answer to your wedding related questions. :)
what is the best advise you got when you were getting married about your marriage and not the wedding itself?
I'm actually not married (or engaged), I'm the Community Manager here and also the resident bachelorette!
But I've seen lots of advice about weddings and marriage in my 10+ years working for wedding websites, and here's some of the nuggets I remember best:
-both partners need to decide that the relationship (and its health) is as important as the needs of either person in it
-pick your battles. Don't sweat the small stuff - is it really THAT big of a deal if you have to put the toilet seat down once in a while?
-don't take yourself too seriously. If you can laugh at the ups and downs in life, that takes a lot of the stress out of life for both you and your spouse
-never go to bed mad. Both of you will sleep better if you can at least agree to disagree before saying (and hopefully kissing!) goodnight.
Hope this info is helpful to you!
those are great lori. thanks for the reply
No problem, it's my pleasure. Hope you're having very Happy Holidays! :)
