A new day and a new plan!

DH and I had our consult with an RE today...woo hoo!  After talking with him, it looks like our next step will be IUI with injectible medications (gonadotropins and a trigger shot)!!  He did an internal u/s today to make sure everything looked good structurally and from that, he said my lining was 6.5 (less than what my ob/gyn u/s tech said) so it's doubtful that I will end up pregnant this cycle, I think! :(  And unfortunately, when I go in for CD3 labs next cycle, I have to go to an outside lab per my insurance so the results won't be back in time for them to let me start injectibles that cycle.  SO.....next cycle, we go au natural the old-fashioned way and then the following cycle, late May, we'll start the injectibles.  It sucks that we have to wait another cycle to get this show on the road but I do feel relieved to have a plan and to be able to put this whole stressful process in someone else's hands!!  I'm even considering not temping next cycle and just BD'ing EOD for a week or so and letting what happens, happen!  We'll see if I stick to that...but for now, it sounds nice! :)

I did!  He was funny and D enjoyed him.  He suggested that we go straight to IVF just because it has the highest success rate (and it's his speciality) but we're not there yet...emotionally or financially.  And since with my insurance, out of pocket we will pay $150 total per cycle for an injectibles cycle that would cost over $3k without insurance, I'm willing to try this for a while! :)

Well technically it would be $3k if I didn't have insurance coverage but since I do, I just pay a $15 copay at each appointment and with injectibles, he said I'd be seen 9-10 times per cycle...so about $150 total per cycle! Can't beat that price! Now, my insurance will only cover 6 IUI's and my RE usually does two per cycle (two days in a row around O). Each of those two counts as one IUI so we would only have coverage for three cycles of IUI. But he said three is usually the average number he likes to do before moving on to something else. But hopefully we won't get to that point! :)

I do work for the government. I previously had Blue Cross but they cover nothing so I switched to another option we have - Cigna HMO. We can also choose Kaiser but I don't know if hey cover fertility treatments and I've heard horror stories about Kaiser...

Wow!  Sorry I'm coming into this late, but HOW EXCITING!!!  We our on the same track!  I am so hopeful for your IUI's!

I was really happy that my doctor suggested the injectables with my IUI's.  I felt that I had better chances with the meds than going au natural and doing u/s's and opk's to time it right.  Will you RE also Rx Progesterone?  I'm taking it orally now and luckily I'm having zero side effects from it!!!  I was just reading up on it and it is making me feel much better about any miscarriage thoughts I have (due to my autoimmune disease and hydrosalpinx)... It's not that I like taking all of these drugs, but I figure it is for a good cause!  Anyway, I'm so excited you have a plan!  Good luck on your next natural cycle, and if need be, the IUI's in May/June!  Hopefully this will all be over soon!!
