A surprise RENEWAL of vows ceremony

Hi, Ladies!

My parents have been married 27 years this summer.

My sister and I are planning a suprise "Small" wedding for them to renew their vows.

Whats great is ...............they've NEVER had a wedding.

They just chose the court house 27  years ago:(

We want this surprise to be done on the beach in Michigan.

My sister and I are the brains behind it all.
We are informing the "imidiate family" to wear a shade of lime green........for a family photo the first saturday in June. Meet at the beach house.

Its all a BIG SECRET

should we tell more of the family or keep it as UNDER wraps as this? We are buying our mom a white dress/we are baking the cake, planning the small inimate dinner/hiring the offician....making the bouquets ourself.

Are we doing the right thing? Or would your mom be upset? Sad? Our mom has never liked the lime'light but since it's so small we're hoping this is the wedding she's never HAD!.

thoughts?

does anyone have a size 12 dress white? Destination looking? We could borrow/rent cheap? We are trying to do this on a very tight budget. :)

Anything lime green out there we could borrow?

Sounds like fun, but she might want to plan the wedding.

I think this is lovely!  I would probably inform the people that you are planning to invite...just in case they want to help and chip in.  But the more you tell people, the more likely the surprise will be ruined. ;)  Just emphasize that it's a surprise.

Try the bridal swap thread for the dress.  Also, check out the classifieds. :)

You might want to find out how your parents feel about vow renewals in general and if they ever considered it (without giving it away of course)...I can see all kinds of disaster happening if they aren't really into that kind of thing...It's a lovely gesture though!

I think its very nice of you, but I'm not sure how I'd feel if I was surprised by my own wedding. It's a personal thing and if it wasn't something they wanted to do it would be awkward for everyone involved. I think you might want to consider involving them at least, not the family but I think your parents need to be included. What if she didn't like her dress? What if they didn't like the vows? This is an intensely personal thing.

Beautiful Idea. When are your planning this? I have a serious lime destination green wedding.

If it if after May 28th, I am would love to willing to donate out of kindness some lime green items to you (chair tiebacks and runners).
