Advice From Already Married Ladies :-)

Here are the primary components in all marriages (in no particular order): Pardon if I forgot anything, please let me know, I am still learning!

Trust

Communication

Love

Committment

Finances

Parenting

Love

Compromise

The grown up dance :-) (we all know what that means I hope!)

Select one area (or more than one) and please give a piece of advice to the soon-to-be brides that you have learned so far. Thank you :-)

Trust  -  Must be there before the marriage even takes place , getting married will not automatically bring a new sense of trust. And any break in it will take serious dedication on both parts to overcome

Communication - Key element of a successful marriage - not everyone communicates the same ... so this is one of those areas that need to be a 50/50 give and take

Love - It's what gets the ball rolling ... but you need MUCH more than love to make it work

Committment - There is no marriage without committment

Finances - Before the wedding both people should be clear and in agreement on how they will be handled ...even if one person handles all the decisions and payments the other NEEDS to be aware of whats coming in and going out ...

Parenting - Discuss and come to agreement on how you will parent before the marriage , then continue to talk about it , because you will change your answer and techniques a few times :)

Compromise - Someone will always be compromising , wether its one , the other or both ,  make sure it's not always the same person doing all the compromising , or resentment will build up

The grown up dance :-)  ..... This will ebb and flow .... just never stop trying to "attract" the other person and work to make your partner feel wanted

One very important thing that usually gets forgotten is that YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE SAME GOALS!  You have to want the same things!

Nicely stated - and I agree with prbetsi too - shared goals are also important.

You forgot a robust sex life! Mucho important, along with all the others.
