ADVICE NEEDED: FAVORS

I have a few options for favors that are at great prices and not budget breakers so if I did all of them it wouldn't hurt, however, I'm wondering if it will be overkill.  Should I just narrow it down to a few or do all of them?  Would doing all of them be too much?  I also plan on doing a cute little bag for my guests to put all the stuff they get at our wedding in because I remember being at other weddings trying to juggle stuff on the way to the car.  I thought it would be easier for them.

Also, I came across this great site.  The favors are great and so are the prices!

Sounds similar to what I am doing, I will be giving out a total of 8 or so, favors.  I'm doing an Over The Top Glam Luxe Hollywood themed wedding, so the tons of favors are appropriate for our theme.  When celebs go to events or awards shows, they usually get "Swag Bags" & have interactive things to do at the events, so, that is what we want our favors & reception to embody...a Hollywood Event.

Edible: Candy & Dessert Buffet with Packaging, 2 Box Krispy Kreme Donuts, Kids Goody Gable Box

Non-Edible: Male & Female Spa Gift Baskets, Flip Flops

Interactive: Caricature Artist, Fantasy Photobooth, Airbrush Tattoo Artist, Cigar Bar

Charitable: A Breast Cancer Awareness Table with items

Here is 2 prototypes of the bags they will be going in. They are very large shopping bag type bags.

I wanted to have favors so badly but then I looked at my mothers cabinet of non used favors from over the years.

The thought of spending money on something that someone will shove in the back of a closet or throw away or just have collect dust breaks my heart and my wallet.

We are doing edible gifts and a donation to two charities- I feel like our money is going towards something useful and who wouldn't enjoy a edible gift?

of course SOME people like to bring something home, some people enjoy the tiny picture frame or votive. You have to decide what is best for the both of you and what you personally think people will like.

I would think to do one or two favors, but for me personally I wouldn't want more then that! We did an OOT bag for our guests (had some edible goodies and a "I <3 Fargo" magnet along with the candy buffet at the actual wedding and a photobooth picture as our favors. The guest loved it, and I felt like it was just enough!!

And to be honest... all of the favors I've gotten I haven't ever used :/ EXCEPT for the wine stoppers I've gotten, which are handy!! :)

Maybe if you mixed it up?  Different random favours for each guest, unless you've got the budget to give 8 per guest.  They're all really pretty, so you can't go wrong either way if you choose to do 1-2 favours or more!

And ditto Kristen - 1 or 2 would be more than enough for me personally, unless of course they're edible (in which case, the more the better!).

WOW! That's a lot of favors. I'm doing 3. The first favor is a box of Lindt truffles. The second favor will be pictures from our photobooth. The third wil be a cupcake from a cupcake truck.

I agree with the other ladies. Most favors end up being thrown away or tossed in the back of a shelf. I think edible or useful favors are the best way to go.

As a person who has received many favors at weddings, some nice, some ordinary, I always have this thought: "I wish they wouldn't have! They just treated me to a wonderful reception. They did not need to spend more money on me!"

That's just how I feel.

Like LaraD2mRdr I couldnt stop thinking about all the trinkets I've collected and can't throw out because I feel bad because they're from a wedding from people I love!

Soooo we opted on spending the $$ on my cousins Leukemia Fund. At a fund rasier they has these cute bracelets, which are purple, Katelyn's favorite color, annnd my wedding accent color. Bingo! bought those so every guest will get one and we donated to a great cause!

We did chinese to go boxes with salt water taffy in them and EVERYONE loved them. It was a great touch because it was at the beach and well salt water taffy and the Oregon coast go hand in hand.

It was just under 200 dollars but we had a ton of left over boxes and taffy because we wanted to have to many rather then not enough :)

For our favors we gave them chocolate hearts....I knew that the guests were going to spend the evening over indulging in food, treats and drinks so I thought some sweet chocolate hearts would be just fine....

If you really want to give out all those favors and it's not going to break your budget then go for it.....But I would keep in mind that no matter what you give out as favors, your guests are going to be happy regardless :)

Thanks for the advice ladies.  I think I have about 4 I was thinking about.  I did want to have at least one big one like a cd or something so since our wedding has an MJ theme we are going to do a cd with about 20 of our favorite MJ songs with bonus tracks being our wedding song, the 2 songs from the DVD Invitation, our cake cutting song, the garter toss song and so on.  These are really inexpensive to make and it will be fun.

One of the other favors I wanted to do was the personalized M&M's.

I love the charity ideas too.  Definitely something to think about.  :0)

We bought personalized coozies, as many of our friends collect them, and they can use them the night of the wedding.  And they're something you can have many of and that can be reused.

They were less than $2 apiece.

I also have like a million silver favor boxes that one of my BMs donated from her sister's wedding, and so we're going to put cake balls in there as a parting gift.  :-D

I personally am only do one favor. We are filling these bags: scalloped edges on brown sacks! brilliant.<=cute favor bags with old fashioned candy: ribbon candy, candy sticks, candy button, rock candy etc. It goes well with our rustic theme. and I just HATE the iea of guests throwing or stashing our favors away that we spent so much money on! I also dont want to have a ton of favors left over at the end of the night! My bff did candy apples, boxes of jordan almonds and match books and came home with a TON of each! money down the drain and right now my money is precious! lol Just my opinion tough!
