Advice on letting people pay for wedding things!!!!

I have a werid situation! I have a friend that is the Best Man's GF. We hang out and stuff but we are not super close... Her mom is awesome and always asking me about the wedding and what not. The other night I was getting the mom's address from the GF saying I know she won't be able to make it to the wedding since she will be moving in her youngest daughter into college, and I don't expect her to get us a gift, but I want to invite her since she has been so nice, and is always talking to me about the wedding.

Well, I got and email from the mom and she wants to help as a gift to my FH and I and do the Candy Bar and BUY EVERYTHING!!! Lord knows this would be a HUGE help since I have virtually no money and am going into debt (FH does not know) with the wedding.

I feel awkward letting her do that though...am I werid? Should I just be thankful that she is willing to help?

HELP ME?

I don't think you should feel awkward...I think you should feel lucky!  Since I've been planning a wedding, I've noticed how helpful it is when people offering to pay for things.  Instead of getting you a blender, this is probably a way she can give you something that is meaningful.  I don't think it's a problem at all.

About how much is that?

I would feel wierd, but that is just me. I can't even take money from FI's mom unless she gives it to him for wedding stuff.

Yes, be very thankful! You are so lucky! You could send her a nice thank you gift of a nice candid wedding shot framed or something. What a total sweetheart! God works in mysterious ways. Here you are stressed about budget and voila, an amazing gift like this shows up. :)

Ok, So i am thinking that this is a good thing. I had to ask the FH what he thought and he said, "I dunno.  We are blessed.  That’s for sure."

So I think it will be okay, but I am still going to offer to purchase some stuff.

I have this situation too, but family members. My brother want to help and so does my MOH mom. My FI and I had decided from the beginning that we would pay for the wedding and if we got to a point where we wer out of money we would accept their help (but would pay them back somehow). It is a little awkward, but i guess if you are in a situation where a little help would prevent you from debt then I would think about taking it.

I think you should feel lucky also. She offered, you didnt ask. And she sounds really excited, like this would make her feel like part of the wedding. You should not go into debt for anything but homes in my opinion so if this will help yay!!!!

Wedding are crazy expensive, its really ridiculous.

I think you should feel blessed that you have someone who is not family who would love to give you a gift by helping you. She knows weddings can be expensive and since she wont be able to make it maybe she'll feel apart of it cuz u'll be thinking of her when u see your candy table. Know what I mean? Some help love to help others, but you do whatever you feel comfortable with. Good Luck
