My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon to Alaska in May 2011.  We've never been and we need some ideas on where to stay and play?  Please help!

Brooko - I am in Alaska, what would you like to know?  Are you planning on doing a cruise, visiting the Southeast or more Southcentral (Anchorage area)?  I would be glad to help you out!

The only thing about a cruise is that you miss so much of the interior beauty.  I mean, there are packages where you can cruise, then get on a bus or train - and those are GREAT - you would see everything.  But, at the same time, you can see and experience so much more by renting a car in Anchorage and just driving.  The ideal would be a cruise from Vancouver, up through Southeast, port in either Seward or Anchorage and then have a week or two to explore from there.  If you are coming all this way, you might as well see it all!

I know the Alaskan cruise is breathtaking... but I wouldn't be familiar with any places to stay up there.  Definitely check some out on Expedia and check out the reviews on trip advisor. :)

my mother and a friend did a 2 week alaskan cruise about 2 years ago and absolutely loved it.  They worked with a travel agent to get all the details figured out.  it was one week on the boat and then one week off the boat, traveling to different places/sites.  I would def recommend a good travel agent so you get the best/most out of your trip!

I agree with akbridehi, I was born and raised in Alaska. You see so much more if you rent a car in Anchorage. Cruises are great for vacation but if you want adventure.....rent a car.
