I didn't do it but from what I've heard it's reallllllly tough and quite the alt :\.

Do you want to do it strictly for the look or to make the dress fit better?

pretty positive em that my ribcage is too big for the dress to zip up..not just my boobies now. My lil bro helped me try it on tonight and he could pull it to make it almost touch..but couldn't zip it..and he said it was almost like around my ribs was too big not just my boobies.

So really this might be the only alteration that will make it fit right..not too sure. Is there other options like inserts or something if it can't be taken out enough?

i put it on tonight..i mean my tummy int he front is a bit chubby..but it only makes me look curvy. i'm working out and that won't be hard to flatten out...but it's like it zips to the bottom of my ribcage.then i'm screwed lol. and I seriously cannot breath..i think i don't even have much fat around my ribcage to lose either haha

I'm going to a lady that is a seamstress and actually makes dresses based on what you create..all from scratch. She's really known around here..and really reasonable...so hopefully she can do something pretty. Most of my dress is lace so maybe she could work her magic and make it some sort of lace insert or something

Missxstephanie... does your dress have a built in corset thing? Mine is a zip-up as well and I had the same issue with my ribcage! lol I was certain no amount of weightloss ( size 2!!) was going to fix my ribs! Then we tried it on again but tucked in that corset inside of clipping it and it zipped/fit.

Also in looking at your dress.... do you have any extra fabric on the sides of teh zipper that it can possibly be taken out an inch or two on the sides? That could be another alternative to a corset.

I initially took my dress in to have it converted from a zipper to a corset. Only a small part of my ribcage was the problem. My dress had 5 extra inches it by letting the sides out and moving the zipper.  Your seamstress will determine the best option for your particular dress. Not getting the corset done saved me $150.00 in alterations.

When I took my dress to get it altered I asked my seamstress at my local bridal salon how much it would be to change my dress into a corset and she told me it would be $120. I opted not to get it done.
