Any brides planning their first anniversary already?

I have been married a little over a three months and why am I already planning our first year anniversary? Lol. DH orig wanted to go to Vegas, but that is not where I really wanted to go. Last night I asked him if he had to do it all over again, what would he change and he said the photography. Our photographer did not take any shots of the bridal party, our rings, any detail photos and I really was upset about most of the wedding cake shots. So today I got this idea in my head to have a photo shoot at our ceremony site for our first anniversary and DH loved it and vehemently said YES BABY! I am getting my wedding dress shortened into a cocktail dress, our cake top is being recreated and I am also going to have a cake topper customized to look like us. We are going to go up North in Michigan for a romantic weekend and stay at a Bed and Breakfast. I am so excited!!! Time to get to planning!

So are any of you ladies planning yours already? Or if you had your first anniversary already, what did you do?

We haven't really talked about what we're doing for our anniversary, but I do have my gift idea already taken care of, and it really started quite by accident.

One of my students is an AMAZING artist--he seriously does beautiful work, especially artwork involving people.  As a joke, he came in and asked me, "If I draw you a picture, can I not do work today?"  I smiled and told him no, but then he said, "Well, what if you pay me to draw you a picture of you and your husband?"  I thought he was joking still, but he wasn't; I think he's trying to earn some money to save for college, but we talked about a few things, and he consulted the art teacher on campus (who has more experience with what commissions should cost), and for $100, he will do an 8 1/2 by 11 black and white drawing of one of our engagement pictures.  I was originally thinking of doing it as a Christmas present, but when I remembered that the traditional gift is paper, I thought this would be perfect!

Moore, that's a fabulous (and incredibly meaningful) idea!

We have no idea what we're going to do.  Except finish sending out our thank you cards (doh!) and we're going to send photographs with them, for a little something extra since people have had to wait so long.

We thought of a weekend away, since we have a three day weekend (and we got married on Veteran's Day, so yay days off!), but now it's looking like I might have to work that Saturday (first anniversary is on a Sunday, and we do get Monday off).

Hooray for anniversaries!

You ladies all have wonderful ideas!!

We haven't planned anything really, but I know I want to go on a weekend trip.

Since we went on the trip of a lifetime for our honeymoon, its important to me to celebrate every year with a mini road trip/getaway for our anniversary- even if its just driving a couple hours away and staying one night.

I don't know where we will go this year though!

What awesome ideas ladies! DH and I actually just celebrated our second anniversary.  We still have not gone on a HM, so that it is what I am mainly planning now for next year.

I have no idea what to get DH for our first anniversary...good thing it's still 10 months away. Lol. I love to take some sort of trip, but we'll see what life brings between now and then:)

Thanks Rania! I knew I wanted my dress made into a cocktail dress the day after the wedding! Plus we are always going to some function so I can wear it again!

@Christina - Wow. I love that idea! That is amazing!

@Emily - okay I don't feel so bad now. Why haven't I sent out my thank you cards yet either??? Lol. So your anniversary just passed! What did you do?

@Becca - Where are you planning to go for your honeymoon?

@littlebit - I think I was so excited to get married and for it to be over with that thinking about my anniversary just came natural! Lol.

@Elise - The photo shoot is my paper. Lol! I prob will get us tickets to go somewhere too! And I don't really want to wait 10 months but it will take that long to afford the photographer I want! Lol!

i loveee the idea of a photoshoot! i am totally going to steal that from you bc literly, we only have ONE portrait of the two of us, and its not even that good. everything else is group shots. as much as i love them, i wish i realized as we were taking pictures that we didnt take any together haha. i am hoping that we can go back to the resort in the poconos where we spent our mini-moon every year for our anni. its about 2-3hrs from where we live, so we could easily just make it a weekend/long weekend trip.

and this is going to be our first anniversary ever celebrated bc we dont "know" when our dating anni is, so we never celebrated it! (we started dating in may. the date is unknown haha) we even went as far as trying to "make up" a date. but when may came, we each thought it was a different date. we are both super excited to actually have a date to call our own now.

Kelly I want to so go to the Poconos! I went many moons ago with my ex-husband, but I want to go with Cale because I know it will be amazing! Which resort did you go to? I am thinking about going to the Poconos for my birthday next year. I will be 40 and Cale is giving me a huge 40th birthday party, but I want to celebrate all month long and that will be my gift to myself! : )

I think the majority of the brides had some issues with photography on their wedding day.I wonder if it is because maybe we are on a timeline? I get so jealous with envy when I see all the details shots in others bios. I am really upset we did not get any ring shots and our ceremony site is so beyond beautiful we didn't take anywhere near the shots we should have taken on site! That is wonderful you guys are excited you have a day to call your own!

We celebrated our first anniversary back in July. Initially we wanted to go to Europe, but instead we decided to sell our condo and buy a larger house. As a result, we saved our pennies by just taking a long weekend. Our only criteria was that it be within walking distance and that it was a place we hadn't yet been to together. We settled on Baltimore, and though it may not be the most glamorous, it was definitely fun. I think my favorite part was that we packed our wedding photo and started the "anniversary photo tradition" (thank you, Pinterest!)

Lauren that is awesome!!! I love that picture of you and DH and I love Maryland! I was stationed there twice when I was on active duty in the Navy. I may have to take a picture like that in my photo shoot!

Hey Mica! I was so looking forward to just being married is why I think I am so excited for our anniversary! Had we had all the pics we wanted, I wouldn't even do the photo shoot but splurge and take some ridiculous expensive vacation. Lol. I can't wait to see what you are going to do for your anniversary when the time comes and I am happy you take it day by day!
