Any ideas for a 60th birthday gift?

Hey ladies!

My FIL turns 60 in a few weeks and he is SO difficult to shop for. Every idea we come up with, we end up talking ourselves out of. I asked MIL what she thought, and she sent me a link to a beer he likes. I really don't think that is enough--$10 is hardly 60th birthday material haha

They do not eat out, so a gift card would be wasted. We considered taking them to dinner for his birthday, but that gets pricey SO quickly because there would be 5 of us.

Any thoughts?? I need help haha

Maybe consider signing him up for the beer of the month club? does he have any hobbies? as oppose to everyone going to dinner... maybe you guys could just set up a romantic outing for the two of them on your dime?

I love the Beer of the month idea and you could also get him a home brewing kit. I know all guys enjoy learning the process and doing it once often turns into a habit.

You could also try buying them a gam to play together like scrabble or Skip-bo. I know my DH and I love to play games together before bed. Seriously one of our favorites is boggle. These help the mind stay strong.

My grandparents played 3 times a day after my grandfather retired and they did it everyday until they went into the nursing home after my grandmother's stroke.

Beer-of-the-month club is a very awesome idea.  We did this for a friend of mine years ago and he loved it.

Does he like candy? You could order candy that was popular the year he was born or when he was a kid. Kind of a nostalgia gift basket.

Oohh I love that idea, Lindsey!!

My MIL is...difficult. So usually FIL, DH and I have a great time together so we've been trying to think of ways to do something FIL would LOVE and make it so MIL doesn't feel obligated to go. (I totally get that sounds awful, but DH has his reasons). Anyway, DH and I go to beer tasting dinners once a month. They are so nice, the dinner is insane, and the beer is great, so I think DH is going to take FIL in March and I am going to skip. That way it is like a boys thing, MIL doesn't feel left out (she hates beer anyway, and would spend the meal telling people they are eating too many calories).

In addition to the dinner, we are going to get the beer he likes, AND I think that candy idea is a keeper too!
