I love the idea of places you've been to - can you get postcards from those places and use them for table cards?

Numbers would certainly be easier - but you can do something fun with numbers too. You can choose numbers that have special meaning to you and your FI and then have guests guess what this special meaning is...

I like the Pics of you and ur FI at one years old for table one...two years old for table two and so on.Also depending on your theme if you have one.Say like if you and your FI met in a theater group old romance movie titles would be cute.

I went to a wedding recently where the bride and groom had taken photos of themselves in random positions holding up the table numbers on a white board (the table numbers were actually photo shopped in after the fact). They're a fun couple and it totally suited their personalities but not sure it would be for everyone.

My husband is a HUGE baseball fan, so we named each of our tables after Major League baseball teams. The table cards were printed out at home on cream-colored cardstock, matted with dark brown cardstock. (You can see it somewhat here: http://s3.amazonaws.com/wedding_prod/photos/8a1c41a088a9e43598b689cd1369e599) The names of the teams were in script, while a sepia-toned photo of Angel Stadium graced the background each table card.

In addition to our baseball-themed favors (peanuts & Cracker Jack), and my SF Giants garter, I think our guests got the hint that he's a baseball-crazed fan.

I am doing pics of FI and I at places we have been. We travel a lot, so there were a lot of pics. I then used MS Word to create the pics as a Watermark, so the picture is faded in the background and the Table Numbers on top of the pics. It turned out great, I just printed it on a Color Laser printer and Laminated them.

We are using wine bottles and the different types of wines to label each table... we bought pewter pillar candle holders for them to stand on. I am not quite sure how well it will work. I think I might make a tag for each bottle with the name clearly printed so peopel can find their seat easier!

Because our familes are from some different parts of the world (he's Scottish, I'm American) we are going to name the tables after all the cities our families are from.
Example:

Confluence, PA
Lerwick, Shetland
Pomona, CA
Aberdeen, Scotland

and have all of the tables 'on a map'.

I thought this would represent the 'combining of cultures'!

Do you have postcards from the places you have been? You can use those to guide people and you have those places on the place cards.

Ladies, what are you using for table number holders? And where did you find them? I am having the hardest time finding simple table card holders to hold the table number.

We're probably doing the places we've traveled to in the US and abroad. But we're also including a couple of local places such as the city of our first date.

Other weddings I've been to have used:

1) Marriage buzz words: love, devotion, trust, honesty, sharing...
2) Couple's Favorite TV shows
3) Different cities in Italy (location of their honeymoon)
4) Baseball Stadiums
5) Different Artists (Van Gogh, Renoir, Dali)

I saw a picture on the Knot the other day where the couple took pictures of their hands--holding up fingers for each table numberes.
