Any married got BOTB or TTC?

Aside from our PG PWers (Meocuena and HMM)...do any of you have baby on the brain or are you trying to concieve.

I am a self-confessed DINK (dual income no kids) and all of the sudden, like a TON OF BRICKS, I have been hit by the baby rabies.  Big time!

So much so, we are discussing TTC this summer.  WHOA!  Scary and exciting all at once...

Anyone else?

Are you serious D1rty?  I have a friend who TTC before her wedding day.  She did concieve, but had a blighted ovum.  6 months later (and married) they were pg and now are parents to an adorable 3 month old boy (I am his madrina!)...

She was 35 and he was 28 when they got married so she was READY to go!

Me...I never thought I would ever feel that "have to have a baby" feeling ever!  And all of the sudden, I do!  I am serious...it's ALL OF THE SUDDEN and so weird.

I'm so scared this will happen to me! Not that having kids isn't wonderful, but I have NEVER wanted any!!!! We've been together for 6-7 years, living together for 4-5 and married since October and our whole relationship I have harped about how I do not want children - which he is fine with.

Now I'm turning 32 this year and a lot of my freinds are having their 2nd kids and I still don't want any - BUT - I'm petrified I'll wake up one day and want them all of the sudden - I'm getting to old for that sh*t!!!!!!

Yeah, we're think we might TTC this summer...which means I gotta get on it and drop about 40-50 lbs.  My doctor wants me to lose 80-100, but she's nuts!  I have been that small since 8th grade!  But I would like to be closer to a size 14/16 before I get pg.  And then, of course, being a bigger gal, I will only need to gain 9-15 lbs. while pg.

I know we didn't wait long, and it definitely 'happened' much faster then we thought (1 time haha) but it was something always discussed and wanted.  (we were just planning on waiting a few more months) Many friends took a few months to get preggers- so I was under that impression for oursleves as well- but everyone is different haha

You can always wait, but then you hear "your never ready" anyway haha I know financially its hard- esp now thinking about the baby, were hustling to change some finances to help us out.  But the feeling is amazing- and yet shocking at the same time.  BOTB can really "take over" if you know what I mean...

Since your preparing for it- I would suggest meeting w/ you Doctor, getting some bloodwork & screening, getting to the weight and health you want, get active, and on pre-natals, etc.  Thats a start!

Kohler's expecting as well? I didn't know--congrats!

I'm already married (teehee) and have BOTB but not TTC'ing yet. I have one semester left of school and the wedding in July...and then I'd like to get hired and work for a reputable place to get a decent mat leave HA!

Are you TTC'ing Maria?

kristinkay--you're too funny "too tired" but yeah, more than likely!

I'm with Jessiepilot. I never wanted kids growing up, but I know this is something we'll do. Being around my neice and nephew, as well as, living in the burbs has gotten the wheels turning. But it's definitely something I'm not iterested in doing anytime soon.

Whatever happens will happen, but hopefully it will happen on my schedule ;)

BOTB: Baby on the brain

oops!  I meant HMM not Kohler.  I will edit to change that, not trying to stir up anything!

Jesse-- I am telling you...I am just like you.  Never thought I'd want kids.  Even up to last year.  Now, all of the sudden, in the last week or so, it has hit me.  Hard.  I just turned 34 last month, so perhaps that has something to do with it.  MIL is in the hospital, so maybe that has something to do with it.  My mom is moving here next month (in two weeks, she just decided last month), so maybe that has something to do with it.  DH really wants to start a family.  That has a lot to do with it.  And I actually want to as well.  Which is the weird part.  Because I have NEVER felt this way before.  Ever!  And I was married before (for 4 years, but we were together for 8).  DH and I have been married a year a three months, but together for 7 and we're feeling ready.  Well as ready as we can feel.

FWIW, I did meet with my OB/GYN already and just bought "Before Your Pregnancy".  We have been eating primarily organically for the past year and I have been taking Women's Formula Vitamins for the past 3 months (basically the same as prenatals...but some higher IUs of some items than prenatals, actually).  I wasn't happy with my new OB/GYN that I saw in July (she was very discouraging about my weight and age, not to mention 3 hours late to my appt. and RUDE) so I will try to get in with a new one (that was recommended to me by co-workers, two that are plus sized mommies) in the next month or so.  I'll probably have to pay for it, since I already used my "well woman" exam this past summer with the craptastic one.  But I will...

And I have a goal of losing 40-50 lbs. by June.  I have done it before and can do it again.  I am already walking 1-2 miles/day and plan to step it up until I am walking 4-5 miles/day.  Now that the holidays are over I am getting back on track with clean eating...lots of fresh veggies, low-glycemic fruit, whole grains in limited portions and tons of lean protein...all as organic as we can get and afford.  And I don't drink juice or soda, just water mainly and one 6 oz. of coffee in the mornings.  So I will work on cutting out the coffee and try switching to green tea (I have done it before) and getting my body, mind and spirit as healthy as can be before we take the plunge this summer.

Where we are right now...I have a great job with good bennies (first time ever, I was self-employed and self-insured for the past 12 years!), DH is still in school transitioning to a new career in about 18 months and we have an emergency fund in savings and are in major debt repayment mode (should be credit card debt free in 2012 and only have a year left to pay on one car and less than $15K in SL's that we'll tackle then) and we're now in a 3 bedroom house (after living in teeny apartments in Cali).  Would I like to be more secure financially?  Yes.  But I think that would always be a yes, no matter when the question was asked.  But we have good paying, steady jobs with good benefits and job security (which is major in this economy), so I feel good about going for it.  I am afraid if I wait until 2011 (which was our original plan) it may be too late should we have trouble TTC, since I will be 36 when we just get started.  So we shall see...

Mainly, I am just amazed at how this feeling has literalluy washed over me so strongly!
