Anyone done the sand ceremony?

My FI and I are interested in doing the sand ceremony. Has anyone done it? I hear it's a new trend but we also want to avoid the "traditional", too boring for us.

We did the sand ceremony.  I really liked it.  I didn't want to do the traditional unity candle and DH didn't like any other idea, like the wine & chocolate.

Thx. I think we're going to do it, I just have to research on where to buy the goodies. Our Reverend actually suggested the sand when we told him we wanted something different.

I bought mine from michaels.  I still have them too.  I tried selling them before with no buyers.  If you are interested I will get a pic.

I found the sand at Joann's.  Both Michael's and Joann's have sand and probably any craft supply store.

I liked the sand ceremony, but it has become extremely popular. So we decided to do something not seen a lot. We are doing the cord of three strands unity ceremony.

The sand ceremony is especially nice when you have an outdoor ceremony. The best thing about it is that you get to keep the vase after the wedding with the colored sand in it. We had our mothers pour the sand in first followed by me and my hubby. It's a nice keepsake and reminder of your big day. We did it and it was absolutely beautiful.

we are planning on doing a san ceremony.  We bought these.  and then I did DIY sand candles for the guests as their favors so that they take a little pc of the ceremony home with them :)

I've also recently heard about watering a tree together for anyone interested in another twist on the candle ceremony. This could be especially good for anyone doing an outdoor wedding or having a "green" wedding. You both take turns watering the small, potted tree, and then have it planted in your yard. I've just heard about this idea, so I've not heard of any corresponding wording for the ceremony.

There are terrific sites to purchase custom sand vases (some are made into picture frames) and there is also a site that will dye your sand to match David's Bridal colors.

There are tons of options to create a Sand Ceremony custom to your wedding. Some include other members of their family, others add shells or stones that have been blessed by the attendants or family members. Speak with your officiant - the options are endless and if they don't have ideas - give me a jingle and I'll be happy to give you a hand.
