We won't get to dance either because our church reception area is too small. I am totally upset and bummed over it. The only way it could happen is if we set up a dancing area outside... :(

If you have a live band there people still may want to dance a bit? I know 'we' don't always like to dance- but I try to think about the 100 other people there... It gives something to do, you know? I have heard of people having other things rather- a lounge setup, cigar rollers, fondue stuff, etc.

But, yes I have heard of other brides passing on this as well...
- HMM :)

We did not have dancing (no room at the venue and our choice), our harpist played throughout the ceremony and reception.

We aren't really having dancing. We have a mariachi band playing for an hour & a half, and we'll have some dancing with that. But, not dj/ traditional dancing.

We're not dancers either...plus our venue is too small for a dance area/floor. We're only having 30 guests and holding our ceremony & reception in a winery cellar.

Question - to the brides that didn't have a dance floor/DJ - did you still do a first dance with your new hubby?? We're thinking we may still do that even though no other dancing.

We're having live music for the ceremony & cocktail hour then IPOD-ing it throughout the intimate dinner.

We aren't having any dancing by choice, and we imagine if we provide enough good food and alcohol, no one will mind ;) I've been to other weddings w/o dancing (one had an Irish string band to play throughout, but no dancing), and it's not crazy at all. Think of it as a grand dinner party (or brunch, in your case)--a social event (and not all social events have dancing).

Well NOW we're not having a regular reception, but when we were having one, we weren't going to have dancing. I wanted more of a cool, mellow island feel to it, not a dance party (we just don't dance!!). We had intended to just do the traditional first dance, and dances with our parents, and then that's it.

Jessie--we are still doing our dance and then our parents. Other than that, I'm not sure. But hey, if the band is good and people are feeling it, thats fine (but there won't be much room!, tight squeeze!)
