My FI and I are thinking of honeymooning there..
My step-mom-in-law went on an Alaskan cruise, and said it was just breathtaking. Her pictures were great....the people on the boat caught fresh salmon, and they grilled, and shared it with the bears. And being in a cold climate will certainly lead to cuddly nights with your hubby!
i've taken a cruise there....it's gorgeous! If you're up for adventure and wilderness, it's a perfect HM!
My sister is living in Homer and every picture I've ever seen looks like a postcard. She's got water and mountains. It's stunning. I think it would be a great honeymoon spot!
I went to Alaska when I was in elementary school- it was absolutely gorgeous!! Just don't go in the winter :)
we are going on our honeymoon in july. can't wait!!! (a cruise)
I had an ex-bf that took a hunting trip there (while we where dating).... From the photographs, it was extremely pretty.
I went on a cruise there also, we were able to take a helicopter ride out and walk on a glacier which was absolutely amazing! Highly recommend it.
i went on the cruise in july and we stayed for a while after the cruise and it was wonderful and absolutly beautiful would go back all the time!
Same story, went on a cruise there. And it is fantastic, just be prepared for rainy days and a bit of cool weather. The weather there is quite unpredictible. If you do schedule any helicopter stuff make sure you have a backup plan, out helicopter ride was cancelled due to weather and we had not expected that so had to scramble last minute to figure out what to do with ourselves.
I've been thinking about Alaska as a honeymoon spot.....unfortunately, I don't think that our budget will allow us to go anywhere, so I guess maybe we'll plan on it for a future anniversary trip....
I vacationed there last Juneand it was amazing. We did not go on a cruise- flew in and out of Anchorage. Spent 2 or so days in the Denali and then went to Seward and Soldatna. The weather was great- we only had one afternoon of rain. It was in the 60s most days. My cousin honeymooned in Juneau and I think that the stayed at a b&b. One of my friends honeymooned there last summer and they spent all or most of the week camping and hiking in the Denali.
I've been to Alaska four times. It's breathtaking. Everybody living in the U.S. should get to Alaska at some point in their lifetime. I've never been on a cruise there, I was kayaking/camping and backpacking for the most part. Incredible, incredible place. The rain is more of a drizzle most of the time. Denali gets hot, up into the '80s and '90s in summer. The Anchorage and Inside Passage areas (incl. Juneau) stay cooler and have more rain, but on most of my trips I had many days of gorgeous blue skies and temps in the mid-60s to 70.
FI and me in Anchorage
I live here, and its gorgeous!
Alaska is my dream honeymoon spot!! But FI says no way. :(
It's absolutely beautiful!
We're going!!! I cant wait. We have to wait until Aug 2010.. I work with a couple of people who went. The pictures they took are amazing..
I have to say ... unless I was going to get to meet Candice ...I would never go there ... BUT I live in Central NY and we have lots more winter than we have summer ... so Im really not into traveling to experience MORE cold weather ...LOL
Mrs.B- Hells yes, you could totally kareaoke with me!
I hear ya though! I'm sick of getting 3mos of summer tops. But while it lasts is freaking beautiful!
Took a cruise to Alaska and want to go back to see more of it, Denali, Fairbanks, etc.
Took a helicopter and landed on a glacier in Juneau, watch salmon leap right out of a creek (and into a bear's mouth) in Ketchikan. Rode the White Pass Road in Skagway and so much more.
If you are getting married in September, many of the cruises start returning to warmer itineraries so there many not be as many ships there, if you are looking at a cruise.
My dad lives there and I spent many a summer there as a child/teen. It's gorgeous and would make a great honeymoon. I'd do the cruise with the land excusion by train if it were me. Preferably in July/Aug....it's fantatsic there that time of year.
