Appropriate for wedding?

UPDATE::

So I just found out the bride has chosen coral and mint for the wedding... Is it still ok to wear the dress since it's coral? I don't know what the typical rules are for this, and personally, Idc if people wear purple at my wedding even though it's one of my colors.. I'm just wondering if it's considered tacky or ok? Thanks in advance for input! :)

My FI's brother is getting married... I am in LOVE with my sister's prom dress this year! Lol. I *really* want a reason to wear it. It has a slit to mid thigh/right above the knee that isn't showing in the picture... Is this too formal to wear to a wedding??

It depends what type of wedding it is of course, but I don't see a problem if it suits the dress code.
It's very pretty

I agree with Canooknic! It is a really fun dress and I don't think it is overly dressy. I think it depends on the time of day/where the wedding is being held.

That is one beautiful dress btw!

I'm pretty sure it'll be in the evening and honestly, the only places available around here are country clubs or someone's back yard. Maybe a banquet hall. Invites aren't out, so Idk. But it's dressy enough for a wedding without going overboard?

Beautiful dress and I think it would be perfect to wear to a wedding.

It's adorable! Better to be overdressed than under IMO, and that's cute without being over the top. Wear it!

Before I go to a wedding - I ask the bride or groom the color scheme and avoid those colors.  Personally - I would not wear it.

I felt the same way as you do - I didn't mind if any of the guests wore purple, even though it was one of our wedding colors. However, you never know how a bride will react. Since she is going to be family - maybe just ask her if she cares.
