E and I would be ok only because we are married. Having sex while deployed is a serious no-go... if you are preggo there is no way to deny you had sex.

The only thing that might stink is the Dr. might not allow me to get my IUD out here because of these shenanigans.

That being said, if I'm allowed to get my IUD out in March, and our tour is over in June, IF I were to get knocked up while here, it wouldn't be, realisitically, until May... but the thought to getting it out here is to have the few months of cycle regulation while here so we can TTC as soon as we get home and not have the cycle regulation pause.

If I got pregnant in May, we may just keep it quiet for the few weeks before we get home.

*edit, I did some research*

According to the Associated Press (http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5j5DZU4B-jVpykbY1Ga3Z_Wrr5gIgD9CM03F00) we are allowed since we are married.

:) Thankfully this general is in Northern Iraq, and I do not fall under him!

Thanks Kari. I'm going to our Battalion Aid Station tomorrow to look into meeting with the OB on post.

Part of me really wants to just get it out now and actively try for our the rest of our tour.

The only positive to staying for the entire depoyment is DH and I are making a CRAP TON of $$ while we are here, and all that $ goes into our baby savings account.

I am happy that this doesn't effect you and in general I am just so happy for you that you guys are going to be TTC.  I can't wait to hear if you get to get the IUD out.

You know, I keel going back and forth on this one. My girlfriend who works at the "dr" here said I can make the appt to get it out whenever I want. We still have 5 and a half months left on our tour. If I get it out now I very well could be preggo before we're ready to go home. Do I really want to get KU in Iraq?

This also sounds selfish, but I want to have the fun and excitement of coming home, and then the fun and excitement of getting pregnant, KWIM?

I don't think that's selfish at all April! You were gone for a year and you more than deserve to have the excitement of coming home then getting pregnant if that's what you want!

If you don't want to get pregnant in Iraq, maybe get the IUD out a month or two before you're coming home so your body can start getting back to normal? From what I hear, it usually takes a few months for your body to regulate when you've taken any type of hormonal BCP (I'm assuming the IUD has hormones? I have no idea!)
