Are vendors allowed to post bios?

I just noticed that a vendor posted their own biography page. I thought that this was just for PW brides. I've never seen a vendor post in the forum pages. Is this the beginning of the e-harmony onslaught of spam postings?

they've snuck on here before "e-harmony". nobody panic. just report them to srini or someone. however, to play devils advocate, i dont remember seeing anything when i signed up that said vendors can't have bio pages. i would just ignore them until they start spamming us. they're only trying to make a living.

usually when one posts, PW'ers just call them out on it and tell them to get lost...

Actually I looked it up on the site and it says that the personal messages and forum are for pw users only and vendors aren't allowed to send messages, contact pw users, or post. I sent an e-mail to Margaret, Joe and Srini and hopefully they will get right on it.

Joe said, "If there are any more spammers that I'm not aware of, please let me know either here or by PM and I can look into it. In the future, we'll probably add a "flag as spam" link to all the posts."

This will be great! Thanks Joe!

That is a great idea - then we can send them alerts as the vendors creep in. It's really sad that vendors can't respect the website rules and we should definitely make sure never to use these vendors or recommend them to anyone.

Hi ladies!

In the past, we have allowed vendors to post in the forums only if they are being genuinely helpful and not promoting their services. Vendors are also allowed to create a bio and are actually required to have a projectwedding account in order to claim their business listing.

For example, if someone posts a picture of a bouquet asking what flowers are in them, a vendor can respond in the forums to help the bride by telling her that the flowers are calla lily or dahlias. Or if someone posts a thread asking for ideas for rustic green weddings, a vendor can post as long as he/she is being genuinely helpful like linking to photos that the bride might like.

However, the vendor cannot try to solicit services in the forum or through private message. This includes posting threads with links to their website.

SunsetHawaiiWeddings

Hi,

The first time I posted in response to a bride my picture did not come up, so I clicked on the picture and it brought me to a bio page where I posted a pic and some info about me.

I have really enjoyed becoming friends with some of the brides on PW. If you all would like me not to post on the forum please let me know. I have learned a lot about what brides want by being involved. I did not try and create a bio page, this was just what happened when trying to figure out why I did not have a pic on my response to a post.. I have gotten PM's from brides and recently have not been able to send one. I was trying to answer a brides question as to what link to find a green dress on Victoria Secret site from the Officiant Dress post.

Please let me know if you would like me not to post on the forum.

Thank you,

Heather Kotok

thanks margaret for clearing that up. that way no one will panic if a vendor answers a question or if they notice a new bio that belongs to a vendor! now we all know the rules! (trust me, it does irk me when a vendor answers a question by saying "call me, my services will benefit you!". I HAVE NOT seen it here (doesnt mean it hasnt happened) but i've seen it on other sites.)

suggestion, maybe we can have a completely separate forum that doesnt show up on the main forum of vendors posting little ads out there? (without spamming of course).

Thanks for the suggestion, WMforever. I'll talk with Srini and Joe later today about it.
