Are you making a cardbox?....

Does pretty much everyone make a card box for the reception? I've been to several weddings that didn't have them, but maybe it's just the area. They usually just sit them down on the table for the gifts, but there is no special place for the cards

i don't think you need to have one - i just did one because i was afraid cards would get lost or taken by someone.  cards usually mean cash - so if they're in a big box, it's not as easy for them to disappear...

I agree with Beatie.

Also, I was recently thinking about what to do with all the wonderful cards my DH and I have exchanged over the years.  Being sentimental, I've kept just about all the cards he's given me since we first started dating.  To my surprise, he's been doing the same...awwwww.  Anyway, I thought a great place to keep them would be in the cardbox from the wedding.  I made a photo frame cardbox and have since taken it apart and hung the frames on the wall...but, I'm thinking about making another one.  A smaller one devoted to cards between the two of us :)

Just a thought for other brides out there :)

We are not having one. We are buying a tin bucket and decorating it for cards.

My cardbox:

My cardbox The venue photo 253248-1

The venue decorator was providing a cardbox, but it's a generic wedding cake one and you can sort of tell it's been used at hundreds of weddings, so I made this one in our wedding colours. After dinner gets going, the wedding coordinator takes the box, empties the cards into an envelope, staples the envelope shut, and puts it into the safe so that nothing goes missing (with a witness, like the MOH, watching the whole process).

If your venue is private, and you have a small reception where no one can go unnoticed, then it might not be necessary. If you're outside, at a public hotel, or have more than 100 guests, I would say have one, because stuff could easily go missing and people know to look for the envelopes at weddings.

Yes, I made a photo frame cardbox. Actually, I still have to finish it but it will be done soon. It never would have occured to me to make one but I saw the photo frame one and wanted one for myself.

I still have no idea what I'm doing for my cardbox. I thought about buying one, but I can't bite the bullet and spend $75 for it. Even though I'll probably use it for both ceremonies. I don't even know if I'll have time to make one or how it's going to turn out! Ugh...oh the stress! I wish I was crafty like many of you gals are!

nicsknack-that's a WONDERFUL idea! The whole reason I wasn't going to make one is because I figured it wouldn't get used ever again, but we keep our cards too!

mmmmmmmm, I don't know about Thorton, but I know they have them in the greater Denver area.

they have them at www.craftsetc.com but you have to order a set of 10.  Maybe some fellow PW girls would be willing to split them?
