Astringent - Pregnancy Safe?

I use the DG brand of Sensitive Skin Astringent on my face every morning.  I thought I heard someone mention it may not be safe during pregnancy.  Is there a place I can find out for sure?  It doesn't say anywhere on it that it may be harmful to pregnant women. TIA!!

They say you should use astringent because it may contain acne medicine that isn't safe for pregnant women.

Look at the ingredient list on your bottle. If you're using a sensitive skin formula, chances are it doesn't include any of the ingredients you shouldn't be using.

Yes, you can use astringent as long as it doesn't have acne medication in it. Alcohol and witch hazel are usually the main ingredients and those are fine for pregnancy. I checked with my dr, midwife and my bff's sister who is a L&D nurse and used to be a nurse in an OB practice and they all said it was ok. :)
What I've been doing is taking any products I was unsure of into my checkups so they could see exactly what product it is and look at the ingredients. It seems silly but made me feel better. :)

This is what I found on Benzoic Acid..

What should I discuss with my health care provider before using benzoic acid and salicylic acid?

Before using this medication, tell your doctor if you are allergic to polyethylene glycol.

It is not known whether this medication could be harmful to an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. It is not known whether benzoic acid and salicylic acid passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

I think your best bet is to talk to your doctor! HTH!

Just to clarify, that link is talking about a particular combination medicine. It is not referring to only benzoic acid in any form.
