Atmoshpere Advice Please!!!

Hello Glam Brides!  I need some advice on how to create the appropriate atmosphere for my wedding. Ok stay with me b/c I think way outside of the box!

I'm an actress and my fiance loves the outdoors.  So our "theme" or essence if you will is Old Hollywood meets Nature.  We are having an evening wedding at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh.  The ceremony will probably be inside in the atrium that has an awesome glass ceiling and theatre lights in the top of its dome.  The reception will be in the rose garden tent outside. (So you see a little of me, a little of him).

The feeling I want is as if Taylor, Honre, Monroe, Dandrige, Becall etc, and Bogart, Grant, Kelly, Newman etc had a fabu party/event but now we're into the after party were only you're most beloved friends and family are there having the time of their lives celebrating your new marriage.  Or even you're having one of these old school celebs are having the after party and a couple decides to get married on the spot- so someone finds a wonderful red carpet gown or kept wardobe gown for the dress and flowers are picked from the garden and you wake up the cook fix something amazing and Dean, Frank and Sammie re-tie their ties and stand up for the Groom and the Dreamgirls stand up for the bride. Then Fred and Ginger dance the night away. And everything is sort of dreamy and wonderful.

Any thoughts/suggestion on how to get what's in my head into reality?? Keep in mind I'm on a budget, so I'm totally up for DIY suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

Try to incorporate feathers, large white feathers, in eiffel tower vases, pearls, strings of pearls and some bling votives...

Love it!!! I got lost in a daydream like I was there as I read through your description. Your vision sounds amazing. :) I am totally with you on what you're talking about! We are doing a 50's Vegas Glam theme. I am finding that it coincides with the old Hollywood glam theme that others are doing but they are not exactly the same. We are going to have a strong Rat Pack vibe to ours. Lots of feathers, lots of rhinestones.

I second the ostrich plume feathers in eiffel tower vases for centerpieces. They make a huge impact. But they are a little pricey when you're on a budget. I know because I am having them at my reception! I have looked *everywhere* online for the cheapest way to do it. The cheapest I have found so far is $35 for the kit here: http://calliescott.webs.com/ostrichfeathers.htm.

Do you know how many people you are inviting? If it's not a lot, these centerpieces won't be so bad. But if you are going to have 18 tables like I am, the price really jumps up. I hope we can still pull it off!

Other things to include: Silk flowers so you can have lots of nature present (silk because it's sooo much cheaper than real flowers). I am going to DIY all the bouquets with red silk roses, red silk gerbera daisies, and black feathers.

Feel free to peek at my bio for inspiration. :)

I'm not sure what your color preferences are and what your must have decor items are, but here are some pics that might be of help.

Ooo thanks ladies! These are great ideas. Keep them coning!

I don't think I'll go with ostrich feather center pieces- not very me.  But I used to have an ostrich feather pen which would be awesome for the guest book.  I'm also thinking of useing sort of vintage looking cut glass and mecury glass votives on the tables.  I'm thinking accents that catch the light - you know?

PS.  Thanks kittyglampants for getting lost in my dream with me!

Since feathers are not your style, if you are  looking for flowers, orchids and calla lily's are a great choice for an old hollywood theme. Also, I found some tablescapes with both orchids and those mercury candleholders you like. :0)
