Attention Philadelphia Brides! I'm looking for a job!

Hi ladies! It looks like FI and I might be moving to either Philadelphia or DC after the wedding (he got into Temple and Georgetown for grad school! yay!) and I am trying to find a new job! If anyone has any job search advice - big corporations in the area, places you work and love, places you work and hate, openings you know of - please let me know!

I have a BA in econ and stats and am interested in marketing and project management, but am REALLY flexible at this time, and in this economy. Thank you so much for taking time to read this, and any tips you have are appreciated!!

I don't know of any job in Philly - but I used to live there and you will LOVE it. I lived right on Rittenhouse in downtown and it was so much fun. Philly has some of the best restaurants and its a such a cool atmosphere with Penn, Temple, Drexel and Villanova all right there. PM me if you need help finding places to live or what to know more about the area.

Good luck on your job search!!

Also... you might want to look at the Universities and hospitals in the area. I know Penn had a ton of employees and it seems like perhaps schools wouldn't be as affected by the economy has some other corporations.

I'm in Center City (in the Fairmount/Art Museum District)....

Jobs in Philly are getting a little tight, there are some difficulties... my company laid of people last October, FI's company just laid off 200 people. Plus all the grads are now trying to get jobs most of the graduate in May/June.

Less people are using Craigslist, b/c of the fee, but you should be able to find some work through there. However I don't think you'll find anything over $30k.

The biggest questions are: where do you want to live? are you going to have a car or depend on Septa (public transportation)? how far are you willing to drive/commute? Is parking going to be an issue (it is for us, this is why we don't live in Rittenhouse or Bella Vista)? Rent budget?

The area right around Temple is GROSS, that is my opinion!! Look up crime reports via everyblock.com (I think that is the site) You can go towards my neighborhood and be a 10min drive, but keep your sanity... NoLibs is a middle ground, but you can tell that it going though some changes.  Or if you want complete suburbia, you can go up towards Willow Grove and Jenkintown.. which would put you a half hour drive from Temple.

This should get you on a start... PM me with specifics...

Hi - not sure if you have found a job - I work for Church & Dwight (you would know it as Arm & Hammer or Clean Shower or Brillo or First Response, and so on).  I'm not sure how far from Philly you were willing to travel - probably about 45 minutes - depending on exact location.  I'm not sure what openings there currently are - but we generally have lots of marketing positions for each of the brands.  Try the website at www.churchdwight.com - they also post on Monster.

Hope this helps and it wasn't too late.
