AW: DIY camera bag insert
Sorry, just throwing out an AW post : ) DH started picking up photography as a serious hobby. A few months back he treated himself to a fancy new camera and a nice lens. But he wasn’t too keen on getting a new fancy camera bag. He just wanted to use his favorite backpack that he’s always travelled around with. It’s compact, lightweight and sentimentally priceless. So I thought it would be nice to sew him a camera insert for his backpack. Now, I have never sewn anything in my entire life but I tend to approach new hobbies with ferocity. As such, DH now has one messy looking camera insert that fits nicely into his backpack and gets the job done in protecting his new toy. I also remembered Doolittle's preference for bags that had yellow or bright colored inserts so that its easy to find things like little black lens caps. So I chose DH's favorite color, orange.
For those interested in doing the same thing, I found this tutorial via pinterest. It took me a weekend to do it with lots of youtubing (including on how to use a sewing machine). The costs was maybe about $10 for one yard of fabric, some foam and adhesive spray. It was not easy-peasy but it was a fun challenge.
