AW: My DIY Wooden Hangers

Borrowed from an idea I posted here, I created these DIY Hangers for my BMs and hanging dress shots.

As simple as it seems, getting the stamps to line up correctly was actually a little more challenging than I thought.  The final result isn't perfect, but I think they turned out pretty cute. :-)

To complete this DIY, I used:

Wooden Hangers

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/images/products/bumerang-curved-clothes-hanger-natural__00443_PE056898_S4.jpg

[IKEA, $3.99 for a set of 8]

Alphabet stamp kit

[Paper Source, $24.95]

Side note: I bought the Martha Stewart ones that you have to remove and apply to a block.  Not the easiest to work with when you're dealing with a curved surface (hanger).  In retrospect, I'd go with the individually mounted stamps.

Mini heart stamp

[Paper Source, $4.75] But I found the one I used in the Michael's discount bin for 49 cents.

I love how they turned out.  Less perfect makes them more interesting. :)

Thanks ladies!  It's nice to have another DIY under my belt!

@ytrieu: hmmm, I'm not sure.  I didn't really have a problem with smearing -- maybe just using a light touch (but not too light or you'll lose some of the lettering) and trying to keep a steady hand. Gee, thanks, right? ;-)

@futurenavywife: So you used those Martha Stewart stamps too?  Hah! Seemed like a good idea at the time anyway... But it WAS kind of a P-I-T-A (definitely harder than I expected). I screwed up 2 of them myself and decided to just go with a couple other far-less-than-perfect ones.

Note to any other brides interested in this DIY: BUY EXTRA HANGERS! ;-)

And you want these type of stamps:

Not these:

@ytrieu: I like your style! ;-)  I wound up using the Martha Stewart ones, but if you're interested, talk to me when I'm done with all these crazy wedding DIY projects! (I might reuse them for my placecards) :-)
