AW: My DIY Wooden Hangers

Borrowed from an idea I posted here, I created these DIY Hangers for my BMs and hanging dress shots.

As simple as it seems, getting the stamps to line up correctly was actually a little more challenging than I thought.  The final result isn't perfect, but I think they turned out pretty cute. :-)

To complete this DIY, I used:

Wooden Hangers

[IKEA, $3.99 for a set of 8]

Alphabet stamp kit

[Paper Source, $24.95]

Side note: I bought the Martha Stewart ones that you have to remove and apply to a block.  Not the easiest to work with when you're dealing with a curved surface (hanger).  In retrospect, I'd go with the individually mounted stamps.

Mini heart stamp

[Paper Source, $4.75] But I found the one I used in the Michael's discount bin for 49 cents.

Love these and I agree the less perfect the better...gives it a nice rustic feel. This is my next DIY as long as I can get to IKEA...I bought stencils and stencil paint though now I'm regretting that. May need to return it and pick up those block letters

Great job!

I started making these and am so thankful I found this forum! Mine are cute but I need help because no matter how long I let them sit out to dry them still wont...they just smear. Should I spray them with laquer or what did you do? thanks for the help!

tdsanders - I am not sure if the original poster is still here with us on PW, but from my experience, it might the type of ink that you are using.

This is the ink that was used.  I read through her post and did not see anything about using laquer on her hangars. Did you purchase wooden ones?  If you have a picture to share with us, we might be able to offer some additional assistance.
