AW: TimilyL's Bridal Shower!! (w/ pics!)
Okay, so a quick recap: my BFF/MOH flew down from D.C. to have my shower this weekend, and also attend our 10-year high school reunion. AND ALSO she went with me for my hair & make-up trial. To say that we've had a jam-packed weekend is not a joke.
So, she planned my shower at a vintage B&B near where we're from, and local for all of my CFL girls. I didn't know, but she asked on the invite for all guests to wear big hats and encouraged British accents. I love theme parties, and I was all gonzo for the Royal Wedding in April, so it was a terrific fit.
It was the most beautiful shower venue I'd ever seen, with a million vintage accessories (carousel hourse! Edison phonograph! phone from the 1860s!) and the party complete with mismatched tea sets, mimosas & bellinis, fascinator favors, finger foods, and a live piano player. AND she hired a fortune teller, all dressed to the nines, who did a "live reading" for me in front of my friends, which included a pendulum that answered questions about kids (MOH brought it up before my mom & FI's mom did!). The pendulum also answered some of my "secret" questions, including that FI & I would be together for always. :) As in, I asked, in my head, and the pendulum swung to indicate an answer, which she said, "THAT one is a big yes!"
And yes, I got some wonderful gifts, and my unbelivably precocious flower girl was a big hit, herself!
Feather fascinator favors! and the beautiful room!
Tea & crumpets! (or at least muffins, finger sandwiches, and other tasty treats!)
Getting my palms read! and then FMIL with my mom!!
Next is the doozy...FMIL wanted to give me something, sort of wanted to wait for the wedding but didn't want it to get lost in the shuffle. So she gave me the nameplate that her husband's (FFIL) mother gave her when they got married - a nameplate for her desk with my new last name. She gave me a card, with her photo, holding the nameplate, from their wedding day, and I damn near cried.
Oh! And well, here's more of me drinking tea, and the owner of the B&B setting up the authentic Edison phonograph!! I had SUCH a geek moment right then!
All in all, a day to take with me and hold onto when I start to stress as we continue with crunch time, now. :-D
