Balboa Park - San Diego

we just got off the phone and decided on Balboa Park in San Diego... and are "friends again"

the front runner is Alcazar Garden with Marston House Garden running a close 2nd...

the caveat is...  he must find a way, hypnosis or otherwise, to get on a plane for when we go to hawaii - for my bday may 2009.. that is the compromise we hammered out.. so huge sigh of relief that our $$$ not wasted after all... =)

i suggested that we both take small trips - one hour in length - to prep him mentally until then..maybe fly to vegas one weekend or fly to arizona --> just little jaunts...

D1rty...sometimes those smaller flights are worse....i'm not afraid to fly... but i do get motion sickness and have to take Bonine for it (OTC, at Walgreens, etc.) and i know the smaller planes/puddlejumpers are WAY worse for me...

also, sit towards the front of the plane if you can...the back is worse too...hence, first class is up front!

i'm flying down october 10 and we're gonna check it out...

i like the gardens and looove the spanish-moorish architecture of the buildings - but marsten gardens is private versus alcazar being public.. but we're getting married on election day - so i doubt the park will be full of passers-by...

Marston House is the other contender:

it's more private... i kinda like that - and we can always take pics at the rest of balboa park and gardens after the ceremony...

d1rty,  the park shouldn't be that busy at all. (Star Trek thing going on but not for too much longer, shouldn't affect you at all.)  you've picked an amazing spots!  Balboa is not too far from our home we go there on occasion when kids aren't being too much to handle. :)  It's not too far from anything in SD but Balboa stands out in a class of it's own as far as beauty.  They have this one tree in the park that is the most photographed in SD. It's got elongated roots above ground and most couples take engagement photos there. I'll find a pic...
