band/dj details - please advise!

Awhile ago, Joe and I contacted the Kelly Park Trio for playing at our wedding, and they quoted us $900 for a three-person trio for 4 hours. This is very inexpensive for a band, and we saw them in person and thought they were excellent. We were so excited we almost booked them until...

... until Kelly suddenly dropped off the face of the earth and stopped returning our emails for two months. We were so surprised because he had been so prompt with his emails before! Anyway, he emails us today and tells us that the reason why he hasn't returned any of our emails or phone calls is because he has been busy selling his club.

I think it's a pretty valid excuse, though I'm a teensy bit hesitant because ... what if he suddenly disappears again?

scary! i was just reading BRIDE magazing last night (shhh, i get to cuz i'm a coordinator!) and there was an article about getting scammed. that IS a great price but since he dissapeared once, if you decide to go with them, i'd make sure you get a ROCK SOLID CONTRACT, one that is not questionable in court. also pay with a credit card in case you need to get money back.

I liked Kelly's music and it's a good price for a live band. I think I will feel better if a face-to-face meeting with him goes well, but I'm not 100% confident yet.
