Big Kids Only!

Did any of you celebrate your nuptials in an "adult" manner?  Habibi doesn't want children there for the obvious reasons and I do as well.  How would you word it on your invitations?  Also did anyone not have junior attendants/flower girl & ring bearer?

This is what I put on our Remix site......

{Q} Why is this an Adult's Only Event?

{A}There are no exceptions to this rule.  We would like you all to enjoy a special night out with your loved one, so here is your chance!  We are aware that this may conflict with parents’ schedules, and we understand if you cannot attend.

I think your wording is fine.

I did not want kids at our first wedding because it was at my grandfather's Museum aka his house filled with Antiques that are from 1300 AD on. His house is worth a small fortune and I did not want my SIL's kids destroying the place. Our kids and family all grew up understanding that DO NOT TOUCH was the rule. MIL bickered and bitched and so my neices and nephews to be had to be there. I was a nervous wreck the whole time.

This go around I wanted kids invited because I want them to see that marriage is worth celebrating. However, I also did not invite people I did not want to be there for DRAMA reasons.

We also didn't have any children with the exception of the flower girl and ring barrier. Our reception cards had "We have reserved______adult seats in your honor"

We did the same as monche on our RSVP cards as well as “adult only reception” on the invite card.

I had a few people question us since we did have kids in the bridal party. I explained that they were MY children and that I had arrangements made for them to be gone by 8pm after the meal. Invites go out months in advance and it gives people AMPLE time to make arrangements and get a babysitter. I love my kids but a night out with DH away is always appreciated and I have NO problem finding a babysitter to attend a wedding (especially if its what the bride and groom want).

We have actually made a small room off to the side of the reception for the smaller kids after 9 pm. We have hired two babysitters and will ask parents to take their children there so it's adults only after 9 pm. I know this isn't in many people's budget but we felt it was a wonderful idea for our two families. The parents can check on their kdis and there will be TV, snacks, games for them.

^^^^^ That is a great idea. I have three young kids and most of my friends and family do as well. I wouldnt dare have an adult only reception. (Not that this is bad) Some of my family has teenage kids so instead of hiring babysitters I will ask them (prior to wedding) to join the kids in a separate area..

Some of our family members know this is our plan and they love the idea. They can check on the kids throughout the night and the kids can even go to sleep if need be.

I will put Adults Only Reception. Sure it won't go over but that's Ok.
