Bikini Waxing

Hi Ladies,

I am taking the plunge and getting a Brazilian wax this weekend and I was wondering if any of you have ever had one done and if so could you please share and tips or advice you have that will make it less painful :)

Thanks,

Nichole

I did it and I probably won't do it again. I have really sensitve skin and had really bad painful red bumps for about a week. Before you go make sure you exfoliate the area and about 30 mins take a couple motrins.

Thank you August27bride.

I didn't get a chance to take any Motrin or even have a glass of wine...or two :-) like I had hoped but I did go through with it.  Although there were parts that were really painful I will definitely get it done again.  However, I will make some minor changes to my future waxes.

I have had great results thus far and did opt to buy the after care package that I feel will be well worth the investment.

I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience :(

Take care,

Nichole

I'm not a huge fan of it, but it's not too bad. Sugaring is said to be a little less painful and better for your skin because its a natural mix of ingredients that stick to the root hair and not your skin. It still hurts, but not as much. Hope you like the results James2113!

The only tips I really have are ones I've heard but never follow! I've heard it helps to take an advil or ibuprofen an hour or two before hand. Exfoliate as well!

I've sugared before which is a natural form of wax that sticks to the hair follicle and not the skin. That was a little bit better, but it's more expensive so I couldn't keep up with it every month.

Agreeing with Uhlease take an Ibuprofen beforehand and make sure you exfoliate the area you are having waxed before you go.

Other than that you just have to grin and bare it :) Pun intended ;-)

I am still very pleased with the outcome.

Good luck!

Hi Ladies,

I just wanted to check in and say that I had my second waxing and it went much better than the first.  Not that the first time around was bad...just painful.  I did make a few changes however.

1. I had a glass ...uh hum... two glasses of wine before I went which I feel did relax me more and made a slight difference.

2. I took two Advil about 30 minutes before my appointment.

3. I didn't go in as far with the waxing :)...that made a HUGE difference :))

From what I hear it gets easier each time you go so I wanted to testify that so far this appears to be true.

Yes, it definitely gets better the more you do it. I'm actually going today! I should definitely try the advil thing!

I've been getting a brazilian wax for about two years now...and it is VERY true that it gets better with time.  My first two times were very painful...but then after that, MUCH BETTER...as the hair thins, it doesn't hurt nearly as much anymore.  So if you can just get past the first two visits, I promise, it gets better!  And I've never taken any pain killers.

They also say the closer you are to your period, the more sensitive you are....so avoid doing it just before Aunt Flo!

@darcelleaugu...you are killing me :-)

@prbetsi75, thank you for posting your thoughts because I was hoping to hear from someone who has been doing this on a regular basis to confirm what I had hoped to be true.

Have a good one Ladie's.

Lidocane creme before you get it done and an OTC pain reliever. Did it once NEVER AGAIN! I would rather have a LARGE tatoo there then go through that again

I just wanted to chime in and say that I am still waxing and am so happy with the results.

Although I do think I will eventually look into laser hair removal since it just seems to make sense opposed to paying for it continually.

In the meantime though I will continue to wax until I can afford the laser removal.
