Black bridesmaid dresses

So I'm having trouble committing to an accent color.  So I was thinking of having a white/cream/maybe taupe reception.

And then I was thinking of having black bridesmaid dresses, this one specifically:

But then in my head, I don't want the girls to look like they're going to a funeral.  And I've seen some pics with girls in black BM dresses with colored shoes, but I can't recall where.  Can one of you beautiful, resourecful, wonderful ladies help?  Also, which color shoe would you go with for a black dress.  I'm trying to stay away from black shoes (funeral look).  And since I can't commit to the accent color, the girls' shoes would be the perfect product placement...

Thanks loves.

The bridesmaids wore lovely, black, tea-length dresses by DaVinci accented with rhinestone stars pinned at their waists. They carried white kissing balls of peonies and ranunculuses tied with white taffeta and sheer white ribbon.“I was so lucky to have eight gorgeous bridesmaids,” says Alyson. They wore black, satin, Vera Wang dresses with a deep V-neck and an open back save the flirty chiffon straps.Kim‘s four bridesmaids wore strapless, black, tea-length dresses with ivory beading at the waist. They carried vibrant bouquets of orchids, dahlias, and roses in pink, ivory, and burgundy.

Alice’s six bridesmaids, including her twin sister (who was maid of honor), wore black, tea-length, shantung silk dresses with a portrait collar and cummerbund. The bride gave each girl a different vintage-style brooch, which they either pinned to their d...

oooh I really like that dress.  very classy and a little vintag-y.  As far as shoe color I think pretty much any bright color like fuscia, green, teal, etc would go.  Black is a neutral so pretty much anything will go.  You just have to figure out what look your going for and what color you would like to carry through out decor.

My girls are having black dresses and red shoes (whether they like it or not). They were all bitching that they will never wear red shoes, but too bad :). They will look hot, and I like the idea of adding the accent color like you said. I'm just trying to infuse some fun and style into their lives, 'cause clearly they do not have any!

I know right!? They were annoying me a couple weeks ago when we went to pick out BM dresses. You must have missed my post. They were making cracks about being Dorothy from Wizard of Oz and Shiot. I could have killed them. Then they were trying to change my design by suggestion shawls instead.  I just wanted to scream "Shut up girls!...you're already getting a cute black cocktail dress out of this what more do you want!!!!"  I restrained my inner Bridezilla though and vented with FI about it later!

Combes2Be: My shinny red shoes are my FAVORITE shoes!  i wear them every opportunity I can.  Your BMs need to think outside the box.

Don't they know that a pair of red shoes looks cute with jeans? Especially with skinny jeans!

I'm having black bridesmaids dresses as well and totally love the idea of colored shoes.  But, I've ruled it out just to spare them from having to buy them and am having them wear red jewelry: red rhinstone bracelets, red rhinestone earrings, and a 3 string, red beaded necklace from Express.  It will add the red accent colors I want and I'm giving the jewelry as their "gift".
