Bridal Shower/Bachelorette Party

Yes we all are married and have been for years but does that mean we can't have a little fun too? Are you doing a bridal shower, bachelorette party or nothing at all?

I wish, but since our guest list was so extremely tiny, I didn't have either. I am sort of bummed by it, but it's ok. I totally think that a vow renewal bride should partake in all of the pre-wedding festivities that "non married" brides" get to. :0)

I agree with Chic! Technically you aren't supposed to partake in the traditional festivities (ie Bridal Shower, Bachelor/Bacherlorette Party, etc) when you are Remarrying or Renewing your vows, but I say what the heck! Go for it! You are getting married right!

When my husband and I first married, we had a "shotgun wedding" planned in just under 3 weeks. One of the reasons for this was we were both in the military and had a newborn baby (I know backwards right). We didn't get to enjoy the Engagement period with all of the festivities that come along with it. He did however get to have his Bachelor Party (I insisted because he had all of his BFs there- I would have re-thought the whole sending him out on the Eve of our Wedding though............priceless wedding day video footage, but that's a whole other story). Instead of a Bridal Shower, I had a Baby Shower. lol Not complaining about the generous baby offerings, but some new towels and kitchenware would have helped out tremendously. lol

Anyway, we both agreed that a Do-Over was in order. We will be having a dual Bachelor/Bachelorette Celebration (2 days before the Wedding this time). We are foregoing the Bridal Shower though (our home is fully stocked this time around). We are not expecting gifts and are asking our guests to bring themselves as gifts instead since we are having a Destination Renewal. For our guests that are absolutely insisting that they still give us a gift; (rather than receive some random trinket) we have set up a charity donation fund to go to Wish Upon A Wedding. It is the only non-profit wish granting organization that grants the wish of a free Dream wedding to couples facing a life threatening illness. I truly believe every Bride/Groom deserves to have the wedding of their dreams no matter what the circumstances. I was actually the Wedding Planner for the very first wish granted. Amazing experience.

Anyone else interested in this for their own Renewal as a Registry, or just to see some very deserving couples get their dream wedding here is a link.

I won't be having one. I would kinda like to since we eloped the first time and I didn't get to do the fun stuff, but we live in a different state than our friends and family so it would be kinda hard for them.

I know for a fact that we are doing EVERYTHING! I have some of the most supportive BM EVER! They are planning little things like shoe shopping trips, making dates to get together to help with all my little DIY's and things like that. I agree that we should be able to have fun...heck WE EARNED IT! We have stuck in there for years...lol

JohnsWife0919 You may still be able to do something, I'm sure if you tell your girls that you would at least like a girls night out they will love it!

We aren't having any but, it's really up to you.  Do what your heart desires.  We all deserve to have all the fun we want.

:( Im not having any BMs or MOH...I kind hate that fact but we live so far away from everyone.

I had a couple of close friends here where i live, but they started drinking heavy and just doing plain stupid things so I kinda cut ties with them....I guess it was a midlife crisis thing for them.

I wish I still had a close girlfriend though...:(

My hubby's GMs and close friends are throwing him a party the night before our vow renewal.  They are calling it "Husbands Night Out."  I know that my BMs and close friends are trying to throw me surprise bridal shower, so I just have to wait and see (and it is killing this control freak).

I was never really interested in having a Bach party, but I always wanted a Bridal Shower. Unfortunately, I don't have any friends at all, so that sort of nixed that idea.

I know, right Amorza! We would definatly invite ChicBride and show everyone what is like to have a Vow Renewal Bridal party!

I hate not having friends. I am a total social person....I will talk to anyone about anything! I love my hubby, but there are times when his agreement grunt just doesn't give me the "girl time" that I need!

Lol I know the feeling I am far away from all my friends and family. If they didn't love me so much and drove the hour to come and spend time with me I would melt!
