Bridal Shower/ Out-of-town guests ?

I am helping plan a bridal shower, the grooms side family and most friends live out of state, do you invite them to the bridal shower?

The only thing I can find is if you receive a invite to a shower out of town you should send a gift.

Most of my FI family live out of town and I'm inviting them to my bridal shower. I'm sure they will try to come and if not they might send a gift anyway. Good Luck!!

We actually didn't invite out of town guests to the bridal shower. I remember being skeptical about it, and really it was a case by case thing. Some out of town family members got invited, but most of them didn't! An invitation to the wedding and information on our registries worked out just fine for them. We didn't want to make them feel obligated to do too much, especially since traveling is so expensive these days.

I might note that my bridal shower was like 2 months before the wedding, so out of town guests would not have been even thinking about coming down yet. Had it been closer to the wedding date, probably more people would have been invited. =]

I'd say that if the OOT guests are within an hour away, you could invite them.  Other than that, I'd say no.

No, I wouldn't but I didn't have any guest that lived outside of the states that we're coming/invited!

During planning, I was told by a planner friend of mine that etiquette was that you were supposed to invite all female guests who were invited to the wedding, even out of towners.  I went ahead and had my MOH do that, even though I knew most of my family from out of town were not going to be able to attend the shower.  : )

I had the same question! Fi's family lives about a 4 hour drive away and I didn't know if we should include them.
