Bridal Shower... UGH

So my wedding is June 28th. I wanted to have the shower like, now, but that isn't happening. The next preferred date was June 7th. I just found out that FSIL is going to be gone that weekend- and I really really want her to be there (we have a great relationship) The weekend of the 24th of March is all filled up with grads- the first weekend in June one of my BM's is gone- (and she's hosting) and that pretty much leaves the weekend of the 14th.

To me it seems WAY too close to the wedding. But I'm COMPLETELY out of options! Everyone's telling me it's no big deal but I did want to stretch it out further than that. Bridal Shower, then Bachelorette party, then wedding. OVER.

What do you girls think? If you got a Shower invite 2 weeks before the wedding? And if you were going to the bachelorette party too it's like 3 entire back to back weekends of me, me, me. Seems ridiculous. =(

omg no. haahaha the house for the bachelorette party in Tahoe is already booked & paid for. My MOH (sis) and another BM have taken on both parties and seem to think a late bridal shower is fine. I feel so ????? about it. I totally want a bridal shower (I mean, I only get one, right!) but I just feel like it's getting to be so last minute and kind of ridiculous. I wish this was planned already =(

Can you combine the Bachelorette party and bridal shower? If everyone's going to Tahoe already for the Bachelorette party, and its a weekend long thing, can't you just have it while you're over there? kill two birds with one stone??

I think as long as everyone in attendance and your MOH and BMs all understand the reasons why it'll be back-to-back weekends, I think it'll be alright. If I was a guest or a BM and I knew why I was attending "MrsTongToBe events" for three weekends in a row, I'd be cool with it. It's not like this happens every year. Plus May and June tend to be busy months for people. Of course it seems ridiculous, but, if there's really no way around it, I'd take a deep breath and just go with it.

And, you can use the back-to-back events as an excuse to delay writing thank-you notes until after the wedding.... well, that's what I'd do. ;-)

Good luck!

i agree with kohler

also the shower won't take like the WHOLE weekend so it's not like a totally YOU weekend. what about making the shower a couples shower to make you feel less ME ME and more US?? or just having your BM's make the shower sound so irresistible that nobody will care it's 3 wedding events in a row. i know it may suck to feel guilty about having your events in a row...but you know what? this will only happen once so WTH? i would happily go to 3 events in a row for any of my girls cause i love them, and hopefully yours feel the same way.

You girls are the best, seriously.

I'm going to see when FSIL is going to be gone, exactly. And I'm also going to see when my BM is coming back from her trip- I would really love for it to happen sooner rather than later, but there's only so much I can do, ya know? *pout* This sucks!

You're right- I'm sure people won't care that much, and knowing me I'll appologize about it more than once so at lease people will know I'm not being all diva (which isn't in my nature anyway ;))

Thanks for the input!

prbetsi- I can't really combine the two parties. For one, the bachelorette party is about 12 of us, and the bridal shower will be more like 35. Secondly, I don't want my old lady friends & people with babies to have to drive to Tahoe (2 hours away) and then know that we're all going off to have a drunken good time for 2 nites while they get to drive all the way home and not participate. It just wouldn't work out- kind of has to be separate.

Do what works. If the schedule only allows for the shower to happen shortly before the wedding, then go with it :) Don't worry so much about being a burden. This is a time for you to be surrouneded by friends and family...all that love and support you. They won't care about the tight schedule.

Good luck!
