Bridesmaid drama...

So I had to face the worst possible thing yesterday...I had to kick out one of my bridemaids from the wedding party...;( we are having a destination wedding and have told the wedding party a year ago (when we marry we will have been engaged for two years in respect to our geusts and party incase they had to plan financially)
So this caribean wedding has been no secret for the paast year...First she got mad at me for not choosing her has MOH, then she got mad at the time of year we are going, then she got mad at the price and suggested I do a 4 star resort rather than a 5...Then when we booked it a month ago, she refused to book with us and our agent, altering our numbers for group discounts and such...She insistee that she could get a better deal and book last minute...WHO WOULD HAVE ALLOWED THEIR BRIDESMAID TO DO THIS???????????
So I told her I had toask someone else who was already commited as I had asked the wedding party to do..If she backed out last minute or the resort was booked up, then what would I have done...I would have had her dress but only in her size and ask someone REALLY last minute which I think is tacky....What someone else have done in this situation??

oh dear. this is a tricky situation. please don't hate me, but i personally believe she had every right to book on her own UNLESS she already had given you her word she was going to book with you. Some people just really have a hard time with money these days and i don't blame her for trying to find a cheaper way to get to your wedding. I would have just sucked it up and let her do her own thing and maybe given her a deadline to book her trip so that in case she couldnt book it THEN you could have searched for an alternative bridesmaid. hopefully she wasnt a best friend or close family relative. the relationship may need some patching up.

in the bigger picture, this isnt the worst thing that could have happened. having a loved one pass away or heaven forbid, your fh getting in a horrible accident - those are probablyworst right???

take a deep breath - - granted, it is highly frustrating, but like mare mentioned, some people are really having alot of $$ problems and well, in her eyes, a dw is not a high priority if she's got tution, mortgage, or other life bills--- if it were me, i'd always pick my own survival versus a friend's dw - sh!t happens, ya know?

if she doesnt make it, why do you have to have someone fill her shoes?? for the symmetry in the pics?? if nobody else is as close to you - it's kinda rude to ask someone last minute just to fill a spot, imo...

sorry if i dont seem sympathetic, that's not the case, wedding planning is a big task, and a dw poses even larger challeneges with $$$ and travel etc...

let it go and move forward - - you're getting married and that's the best case scenario right??

hang in there!!
