as a BM, I paid for ALL my own stuff (dress alone was over $300, and CAN'T be worn anywhere else), plus for 2 of my children that participated plus, I sponsored the cake & the BM boquets & the church flowers...
=== edit === almost forgot I tossed half the bachlorette party... YEAKS!
WOW! Meoc, you are SUPER BM! I've paid for everything as well... dress, shoes, hair, makeup, nails ect.
I was... I have a much larger family now and could probably never afford it no matter how much I would want to :( ... but I ahve to admit, it was fun... adn it did make me feel good to know I was able to contribute to her wedding... though there was no personal maintenance expenses (hair, make-up etc), I was all outta mooola!
I've been a bmaid twice and each time the bride has paid for our dresses. I've had to buy my own shoes and all the bmaids did their own hair and makeup. I'm planning on paying for my 4 bmaid's dresses.
wow jaimie, thats sweet... i would love to pay for them, but since i can't i will try to get a dress not to costly & hopefully something they will be able to wear out afterwards...
I will leave it up to them to buy their dresses and plane tickets and we will pay for everything else: shoes, accomodations, makeup, hair, spa, jewelry, and gifts
My BMs are paying for their dresses, shoes, jewelry, makeup, nails, hair, etc. I am paying for their bouquets and still have to pick out their gifts. They thought that I should get their jewelry for the day of the wedding as their gift, but everyone would get the same thing and I don't want to hear any complaining about someone not liking what I picked out. Besides, I want their gifts to be VERY personal per girl. They are getting some things identical (like the BM t-shirts), but other than that, they are getting something nice and expensive.
I've been a BM once, and the bride paid for our dresses, shoes, and hair. We paid for our own make-up. For my own BMs, I paid for their dresses, but I got them dresses they could wear again casually. They provided their own shoes. I also paid for their make-up; they paid for their hair. And I bought them manis/pedis, as well as BM gifts. I know how expensive being a BM can be (and a big time commitment), with the bridal shower and bachelorette party, so I wanted to help in any way I could.
I have been a bridesmaid 8 times.... yes 8 times. I have paid for everything except flowers and jewelry (usually a gift). My own bridesmaids will be doing the same and they will be recieving jewelry as their gifts as well as other trinkets. Being a bridemaid is very expensive, but it's an opportunity to participate in someone's big day. I'm fortunate to have great BM's that are willing to do whatever. =o)
