Bridesmaids dress color - need your opinion

Hi,

I think I've narrowed my bridesmaids dress down to a jcrew dress that's only $98. I'm trying to decide between rosebud and brown. My colors are red and brown (pics in bio) and rosebud is more of a light red or a dark pink. I'm afraid with the cement walls of Saint Mary's that the brown would look too dark though.

Any opinions? Please help! =)

Thanks,
Margaret

I like the idea of the jcrew dresses but I'm not sure about the colors you've got... its hard to tell from the photo but i'm not sure they're... RED enough. If you want your dress to stand out in the photo, and you want the room to really feel warm and alive, you might want to theme with a much darker red- something closer to a dark velvet sort of look (color, not fabric). The richer the color the better the impact. Of course, its hard for me to tell from the photo on my laptop screen, but that's the one thing I would look out for. In general, its harder to get cotton to dye a really rich color of red- you usually need somethign with more of a sheen to it; though high threadcount cotton (sateen) will do that. I wouldn't worry about cotton looking casual (i think thats not an issue), but I would be sure you see the fabric in person and confirm the color first. If the red is more dark pink then rich red, you won't be as happy with the look- the cement walls will make everything look a little drab.

At first glance I like the brown better. But after seeing the two dress colors next to the picture of your church and reception venue, I think the red looks much nicer. With a church that has cement walls and a venue with beige walls, the red would stand out more.

Either way we'll blend in with something. Red - with the decor (?). Brown - with the venue. I don't mind either color, but I'd prefer brown. But then again, I prefer wearing dark colors to bright colors. Luckily, because we're all fairly fair skinned and have dark brown hair, either one would be fine.

I agree with johnandjanet, the red one sounds better.

I think the rosebud will pop more in photos.

Thanks for your advice everyone. =) I think I like the rosebud as well. I think the rosebud color is more flattering (at least on my sister who tried it on) and I also agree with Soon2BWilcox that the color will pop more in photos.
