Bridesmaids shoes

Are your bridesmaids wearing the same shoe, or are you letting them choose whatever shoe they want? I'm thinking about letting them choose but I'm a little concerned that one of my bridesmaids really likes wearing bright patent close-toed heels. Maybe I can specify open-toed or sandals? What did you do?

I'm letting them choose what they want. I asked them to wear brown or beige strappy sandals.

It's probably better to loosely guide them, and make sure that you're ok with whatever they choose. As in, don't say "everyone buy this shoe" because it might not be comfortable for some of your bridesmaids.

My bridesmaids picked their own shoes. They all choose black strapy open toed sandals. The good thing was that even though they were all wearing different shoes, they tried to coordinate it.

As pp said, "loosely guide them."

I believe to some extent, it depends on whether or not you are paying for the shoes OR are they? If they are paying, I think it is better to loosely guide them. Afterall, who wants to buy shoes that they may never wear again. But if you are paying for them, they should wear whatever you buy. ;) I only have one MOH so it was easy for me. I just bought her dress, shoes, jewelry, and am paying for her hair and makeup. So she is stuck with all of my choices. hehe

I was open to the idea of them picking their own style shoes, as long as they were in the silver color. But I also picked one style in case they all wanted to wear the same one. They all ended up picking the same one that I had selected for them.

If you allow them to pick their own style, the best thing is to specify open-toed or sandals, so they know what their guideline is and what to look for when they shop.

My girls are all wearing the same shoes, but that's because they got to pick their own dresses. I found a pair of shoes, sent pics to the girls, and they all liked them. Didn't hurt that they were only $19!

I was just a MOH last Saturday...we wore red chiffon tea length dresses and the bride requested that we wear gold shoes (since the red was tough to match)...two of us ended up wearing the same ones and the others had different ones. I think it looked fine and each girl was happy with her choice (one was over 6 ft. and didn't want to wear heels)

Personally, I prefer weddings where everything is coordinated but not too matchy-matchy like a uniform.

I'm too OCD to let them choose. If I had a bridesmaid that was 6 ft I would understand her not wanting to wear heels. But other than that I think they would need to be uniform.

Since we were going with silver satin shoes, it was just easier to have the girls wear the same shoes, as silver satin is difficult to find. We went with a cute Chinese Laundry pair that everyone liked, and were quite reasonably priced.

I of course let them pick their own shoes. I have a horrible time with shoes(due to a medical problem) and there is no way i could walk around for hours in shoes someone else told me i had to wear. I gave them a color and had faith enough in them to pick some nice shoes.

I dont actually remember looking at anyones feet that day and certainly no ones choice would ruin my wedding day. i am all for freedom of feet!

I asked my BMs to wear whatever black strappy sandals they wanted -- that way they got to dictate the price point and comfort level. Two of them sent me links before they bought them to make sure they were okay, but I totally trusted their intuition for what was "appropriate" for a Catholic Mass (i.e. no lucite platforms). They also chose their own jewelry, hairstyles, makeup colors, nail polish, etc...

This gave me my most severe "BRIDEZILLA" moment. I swear, it's difficult to go between women and their shoes.

I finally let this go because I realized it's just not worth my stress. I even offered to pay to get it my way, but in the end I told them to just make a decision that they are happy with. I did however give them loose guidelines.

I am giving my bridesmaids a color swatch to try and match their shoes too, since I want them to wear light yellow heels. I want them to find a pair close to the swatch, but I also offered to go shopping with them...since I am a shoe-aholic...
