Broke Down and Bought a Book

Yep - I just broke down this week and got a book called "Learn Crochet" from AC Moore and it even came with hooks.  I am planning on starting to read it along with You Tube research and try and perfect my edging technique and the dreaded granny square.

Work has been horribly crazy and yesterday my body decided it didn't want to do anything - DH said I was probably exhausted from working too much and stress, so I'm trying to take it easy this weekend and crocheting is always in my relaxing mode.

Have any of you taken classes or bought books to teach yourself/learn this or knitting?

Hope this book is worth it.  : )

Yay! Sounds exciting! Can't wait to see your progress.

I bought a crochet book and use it along with YoutTube to learn.  I just like being able to physically flip through a book. And it's great for when I don't have (or want) computer access. :)

I started thumbing through it earlier and found out how to "finish" the edges of my projects like afghans, scarves, and so on!  WHOO HOO!!!

Huzzah!  It's somehow different to have it in book form (as opposed to have to fetch the precise info you need on YT or something).  It's like books can tell you things you didn't even know you needed to find out about!

For me, I find it much easier to learn from a book than something online.  I don't know why that it is, I have just been that way.  Maybe because I work on computers for a living and any time away from them is a nice break?  : )

LOL. I'm the same! I've developed a sort of ADD with online things. I just love flipping through physical books. :)

Me too - I have ADHD and sitting still in front of a computer = no good for me.  LOL

Books are great!  I learned felting with a book.  Lots of fun!  But now I'm building up my stash of wool. lol  Don't forget the free patterns you can get from the yarn websites.  Lion Brand, Red Heart, and Bernat all have websites that include a list of free patterns.  You can even do a search by skill level - beginner, etc.

Jennifer, THANK YOU.  I guess it is a good thing that this group was created, especially because of where I live.  There are going to be tons and tons of craft fairs that I plan on going to with some stuff.  : )
