How are you planning on bustling your Maggie? Or how did you bustle your Maggie?
I have Brianna and plan on doing a French bustle!
I didn't know there are different styles of bustling your gown! =O I have the Billie and I'm getting it altered. The train ended being too long for me because I'm short. I would be interested to know how to bustle them soon so I can tell them what to do with it.
I'm doing a french bustle on my Ambrosia...they'll tuck the bottom pick up under the top pick up!
mcbride14 ~ there are generally two types of bustles: French (goes underneath), or American/traditional (goes on top).
Yes they will need to know. A lot of it depends on the dress. Once dress I tried on a dress that would have looked best with a traditional/American bustle, but the one I bought looks best with a French bustle. If a train is long enough a double or triple bustle could be done, essentially tucking the dress under in multiple locations for a more dramatic look. I don't want to advertise another site, but this came up on Google :)

i wanted an austrian bustle...but it came out like this...oh well. i received a lot of compliments about it being different.
MissRtoMrsP ~ thanks for the article! That kind of detail showed up nicely on your dress!
awww, thanks athena85!
Thank you for the articles. I had yet to consider bustling my dress yet and since my dress will be here in a few weeks I really should get on it.
Thanks again ladies.
I will be doing a french bustle on my Demi, I love french bustles!
I had my first fitting yesterday - yay!! I immediately told the fitter I wanted a french bustle, and I though it would just have a couple points. Nope!
The fabric on the side of the dress required a bustle for each side, so we're doing one American bustle on each side - this makes up two points. I was a little worried about an American bustle but on the sides the fabric isn't that heavy.
For the back of my dress I'm having a French bustle and its six points! I'm so in love with how its going to look :)
What do you think about this? Very simple, but thought it was the best for my Karena Royale:
WOW athena, it's gorgeous - YOU look gorgeous! :)
SKeenan76 I think the American bustle looks great with that type of dress! I love all the lace :) Did they secure it with a button or a hook?
I have a Maggie with lots of pick-ups, so a French bustle is definitely my plan (and my seamstress agrees).
Obviously it's not bustled here, but the style of the dress lends itself to a French bustle really well.
Very pretty, @fromcoldtofire!
@athena85, I believe it will be a hook, but honestly...I am not sure! LOL! I don't pick her up until 10/6. Isn't that awful?? The seamstress was talking and all I could do was look in the mirror! haha!!!
SKeenan76 I know what you mean! They want to talk details and all you want to do is stare, walk and twirl (or at least that was me, haha). Regardless, it will be great! I always thought they just did hooks, then the fitter started to mention buttons. Who knows :)
here is mine.
@Boricua_Bride - beautiful!!!!!!!!!! :)
LOL, so true so true, @athena85! I'll definitely keep you posted and let you know if it's a hook or a button! ha!
