Camping Wedding

Anyone every think about doing this?  Back when I was with my exbf, we'd get his entire family together (28 ppl in the immediate family) and basically take over part of a campground, and I always thought it would be so much fun to have a camping wedding!  It would probably be a logistical challenge, but FUN and oh, the photos....

I'm going to go see if anyone has done this....

It's a wonderful idea, you could easily make an entire weekend out of it!

We looked at a place like this to entertain the idea but when we arrived we didn't feel comfortable with the location.  Had it been a good location, I think this may have been us =)

We actually entertained this idea as well - I think it would be SUPER fun as a vow renewal too.  Our biggest concern was with guests who would not be able to camp (older guests especially) and BUGS!  The place we looked was beautiful but it was bug central. . . .

Ugh, no thanks. I camp a LOT (including backpacking) and I don't want to do it for my wedding. I want air conditioning, private bathroom, and no worries about how to keep my dress out of the dirt.

We will actually be renting out a the Girl Scout camp that my sisters and I went to as kids.  The ceremony will be on the waterfront, the reception at the dining hall, and everyone can stay overnight in the cabins.  It actually costs less than a reception hall and we feel great about giving our $ to the Girl Scouts.

We are doing this! We were actually going to rent out a Girl Scout camp (we met through a girl scout event), but they have a VERY strict no-alcohol policy...which with our friends wouldn't work very well.

So, instead, he has an uncle that has property we're going to use. What we've kept in mind while picking location is...

  • A place we can be loud and obnoxious without disturbing anyone else

  • A place that has either an alternative to camping (cabins, etc) or are within a 20 minute drive to a hotel.

  • A good big open field so everyone can camp together

  • A place ot have a big bonfire

  • Rain options

I am thinking of doing this, camps are very inexpensive, only problem alcohol policy and they are kind of far from where I live.
