Can a BM be married/divorced?

Hey girls,

I am Russian (with asian origin) and here we usually don't have BMs, but just one close unmarried friend of bride (and same for the groom).

How is it in your countries? Can I for example make my married sister one of  BMs?

I really don't know much about western wedding traditions, but I surely want to break a few Russian stereotypes for  MY DAY.

Please help~ (and be nice with me)

A bridal party is usually made up of the brides nearest & dearest - irrelevant of marital status. Best friends, sisters, cousins - basically those people you love and want to have a special place in your wedding day.

Welcome to PW, please come back with ANY questions xx

I think its great you are stepping away from stereotypes. As already stated your bridal party should be those closest to you. My maid of honor is my sister. She is married. Welcome to PW

Absolutely. A married "maid of honor" would be a "matron of honor" I’m not sure if there is a name for a married bridesmaid or not. You have whomever you want in your bridal party. that’s what makes it special.

I think all the ladies before me answered that question. :)

BM's are your close friends. But your Maid/matron of honor is you sister/BESTfriend. I loved sharing the day with my girls!

My maid of honor is really my matron of honor as she is married and is my only attendant (other then flower girl) :) glad you got your answer.
