Candied Walnuts

made these for salad...so easy!


1.5 cups walnuts (if whole, then rough chop)
half cup sugar


put walnuts and sugar into non-stick skillet on medium heat...stir constantly until sugar dissolves into brown "liquid" and coats nuts....remove and spread out on sheet to cool


my notes:



  • stir gently using spatula at first as sugar will fly everywhere if you stir too vigorously

  • i turned down heat just a bit as sugar started to melt

  • doesn't make a liquid so much as like a sticky syrup

  • DO NOT walk away, or they will burn (my friend did this!)

  • mine are cooling on a cooling rack lined with parchment paper, so they don't stick, break up any bigger chunks...parchment paper also makes for easy transfer to a bowl (lift paper, they slide right off)

I also add a little Cinnamon to mine :)


ohhh and I have soaked them first/ or boil a little bit- the water helps soften them up a tad :)
