Caterer tasting sessions

How long does a tasting session usually take and what gets tasted - exactly the same thing that you're going to have in the wedding? Are they usually free?

Good questions. I'll be watching for the answers.

A tasting session usually lasts a couple of hours. The tasting depends on the caterer. Some will prepare a menu based on your discussions about what you like, allow you to sit in on another person's pre-wedding tasting, or simply pick a sampling for you. The ones that we tried were free. I have not heard of caterers charging for tastings, unlike some cake vendors (Elegant Cheesecakes $35 and Cakework $25).

For Yank Sing, we had to pay gratuity for the tasting. We tasted pretty much everything that we were having at the wedding but depending on which tasting you go to, you might not be tasting the same menu as your wedding.
