Celebrity/TV weddings

Would you ever go on one of the TV shows where you let other people plan and pay for your wedding? Like the Today Show throws a wedding or theknot celebrity-inspired wedding. I personally wouldn't mind someone paying for the wedding. The downside though is you let someone else plan everything for you.

I definitely would not mind someone else paying for it. =)

I guess I wouldn't mind going on one of those shows. Though if I entered one I wouldn't be heartbroken if I didn't get it.

I would prefer to keep it private so I probably would not go on a TV show. I can see why it would be attractive though since you get tons of professional experts doing all the work, and paying for it to boot!

Knowing what I know now, I would definitely go on a show! It would save so much time and money, and you'd get a fab wedding pretty much for free. Really on the day of all you will care about is how much you love him/her and forget the rest of the details.

I agree with johnandjanet that anyone who wants it private shouldn't do it. Plus people would recognize you afterwards on the street so you might lose some more privacy (like celebrities do). I did like planning my own wedding and I agree with kellyk that someone else is suggesting options for you. But definitely someone taking care of the bill is definitely nice.

So far everyone has advice to give, I feel like I'm not really planning this wedding anyway... I'm just trying to funnel all the requests into something reasonably "us." At least with a TV wedding you skip all the hassle.

It all depends who's planning and paying for it. If it's Oprah and she hires Colin Cowie, then hell ya... go ahead and plan EVERYTHING for me! =)

no, I just couldn't. You have to 'play to the camera' and I just want a more natural feeling...

but yeah, having someone else pay is great!

my girlfriend and her dh were on the show "Merge". it was awesome! They didnt have to hire a videographer because they were there to also capture the wedding. Their home came out FABULOUS. I would totally do a show like Merge. And they got contacted by registering at Target. Who knew!?

p.s. they didnt have to "play to the camera". They probably picked them cuz they're naturally energetic and fun. the cameras didnt seem to impose on the wedding at all. i forgot they were there!
