ceremony sequence question

I'm not having a doc so can anyone give me the rundown on the ceremony (how to line up, how many minutes before the ceremony the gm stand at the front, etc)? I'm having someone coordinate everyone, but I'm not sure whether she really knows what she's doing. Thanks.

For an out door ceremony,

Have the line up start 5 minutes before ceremony time. Start by having the officiant stand in the appropriate place.

Next Have the Groom stand in the appropriate place.

Now you can be creative,

Have all the grooms men line up next to the groom. or come in one by one from the grooms side or come with the bridesmaids.

Pick two points for the wedding party to enter from. The first person/couple walks to the first point and pauses. Then as the first person walks to position at the alter he second person/couple walks to point 1 and waits until the first person/couple arrives in place at the alter. Now the second person begins the walk to the alter while the third person/couple walks to point 1. Do this for all the couples. I like to start with the MOH going first. Etiquette says MOH goes right before the bride. Do what you want...

After all the BM and GM are lined up the ring bearers go and then the flower girls... The children can wait until the Bride has arraived or just find there place in the aduience. Depends on what the bride wants.

After the flower girls go, it is the Brides turn, the music changes for the Bride and the Bride comes usually with her father or someone else to give her to her husband at the alter.

The officicate says "who give this woman to this man" if you like... (Dads usually love this part)

When leaving after the ceremony the Bride and Groom go first, then the Grooms Men and Bridesmaids go together, two girls to one man or vice versa if the numbers are uneven. Than the flower girls and ring bearers and person looking after them, then the parents and then the guests... All standing for the Bride to walk the aisle and Bride and Groom to leave!!!

Funny I asked this same question today,,, wondering if there were any past posts so I would not have to type it out...

I would love to here variations on this...

In my opinion, you kind of do what you want. I was a MOH once where the DOC dictated everything and basically said "these are the rules." I really didn't like that attitude, so I did what I wanted.

Whatever you plan to do, make sure you have it figured out before the rehearsal... ours was a little chaotic at first. I realized that it would have been a lot easier if I'd worked this out with the DOC ahead of time. ;-)

We did:

Groom walks down the aisle with the officiant. (We joked around at the rehearsal with the two of them holding hands or arm in arm.)

Bridesmaids and Groomsmen walk as couples. I think the timing was more of a "start walking when the previous couple gets about halfway down the aisle." or something along those lines.

The last BM and GM walked with the ring bearer (their son) We didn't have a flower girl, but if we did, she would have walked after them and just before me.

As the last BM and GM were walking, Dad and I drove up and then walked. The music changed as we got out of the car. I honestly have no idea if our guests stood up... I can't remember! I'll have to ask DH.

After the ceremony we kind of did the opposite. It was pretty simple.
