City Hall Wedding

Hello ladies,
So FI and I may have to get married a few mos before our actual wedding for military bureaucratic reasons. We were just going to go to city hall for paperwork but then we thought why not make this fun... My photography package came with a 1 hr engagement session so instead of an e-session we thought that they could come with us to city hall! I'm still trying to decide if we should do this if we have to get married before our wedding. I think if we do I would wear a beige or white or cream skirt suit or tea length dress and he would just wear civilian clothes like one of his three piece suits or something instead of his uniform... So - Yay or nay?!

That's exactly how I talked FI into having the photographer there and making it more than just paperwork, aching! I saw her ad in a bridal mag and the photos were so pretty. FI has a WWII jeep that he has had restored that is a little bit earlier than that one. And he's been eying his buddy's dad's restored warbird soo this was the easiest thing to pitch to him. "Dear! Just look at the Stephanie James ad, see if I had a suit like that wouldn't it be so cute in the jeep?!" hahaha
Thanks for sharing :)

Beautiful! Aching, those are gorgeous!

I actually went shopping in San Francisco yesterday - took the afternoon off and tried on some suits at Macy's. Nothing great (at least from the more affordable ones) but so much fun! There was a Nine West white suit with a fitted jacket with short bubble sleeves and pencil skirt - very cute actually - but I can't find it online to post a photo. Anyhow, it was not very well made and the fabric looked like a tablecloth (a nice white tablecloth, but still)...

Plus Banana Republic has a very pretty off-white boucle blazer that would look fabulous as part of a skirt suit, but there is no skirt to go with it! I was so bummed. The jacket is not on their website - it must be only in the stores. So this is my update on my little excursion yesterday. Have a wonderful weekend, ladies!

It's this one, right?

I saw it the other day and thought of you two! But as you say, without a matching skirt, it gets more complicated - it's possible you could find a coordinating skirt to go with it, but it's much harder! Ditto these two gorgeous jackets from J. Crew:

The second one does have matching SHOES though, which I love!

If you find a jacket you love that's not part of a suit, maybe you could find a beautiful short or tea-length dress to wear under it? A sheath or perhaps with a flared skirt? Just an idea...Love to hear more as you contiue shopping!

I like the Banana Republic blazer - so pretty! Maybe over a dress - yes! And I'll check out the JCrew. It's fun looking around even if I many of the suits are not affordable :)

Not to beat this thread to death, but I just saw this suit at Ann Taylor and had to share - I usually feel like AT is pretty frumpy, but I love this suit!

Ohhhhh man, I tried on this jacket at J. Crew yesterday and it is so darn cute!

It even has aqua lining for "something blue". Good thing it wouldn't really work with my dress, otherwise I would have had to buy it on the spot!

Champ - Have you and your FI decided if you're going to do the City Hall thing? And Smilkova - Have you found your outfit?

I think we will. Now my head is swimming with really cute suit options so we kind of have to! I still have to call my photog and see if that works for them, to do the "e session" as a city hall session.
